It's summer holidays, and I need a project to keep me going. I thought now was as good a time as any to get started on the daunting task that is making my own armour based on Carter-A259 from Halo Reach. I'd like to make the point that I am a complete n00b, and many mistakes will be made.

This is the desired look.

So far I have pep'd the helmet,

the left shoulder,

and the right shoulder.

I'll add updates to it as frequently as I can, but I aim to get the entire project finished as soon as possible.

For a "complete noob" that is some very nice pep work!
Also from what i can see in the pics you have a few bobbles of glue here and there. It is nothing major to worry about, however you may wish to smooth them down before you add the resin to it so that the bobbles are not left once the armour is complete.

Very nice, promising work! I look forward to more pics :)

I see you're still having the warping issue...Wish I could help correct it but I've never gotten beyond pep when it comes to fiberglass armor. Stick to my foam :p nice to see you started a thread beyond the one on reddit :D

I don't know why everyone keeps using my old Carter right shoulder attachment. Ruze has a much more accurate one in his "Official Halo Reach Pepakura" thread. Ever since I saw his, I thought mine looked ugly, I mean I modeled it months before the game even came out. I also have a more up to date left shoulder attachment if you're interested (smoother curve and more accurate in general).

Your work so far is not bad. Keep it up!

lol i agree with him ^^^^^^^^^^
Carpathia always lets you know when something is "ugly" haha
even when its his own model
but you gotta give yourself credit when you can make models for a game that havent come out yet :D

and yes your work is lookin pretty good, i was curious though towards that helmet, if its a little too big for you..??
just thought id ask because the chin drop covers your neck
though it does look good with the rest of the suit so maybe its me..??

keep it up!!
hope you plan to start glassing soon

Well it's working fine for me so far! I think it looks great, and seeing as it was one I had easily to hand, I thought it would do the job perfectly! But I'll give the updated one a look, doubt I'll swap it out, but it'll be good to have for any future projects!

It was a little big, but I spent a long time on a helmet, which was way to small, and then I made this one, and it was to big. It was pretty demoralizing bearing in mind the amount of time I'd sunk into it! I might re-re-make it once I've finished pepping the rest of the armour, if it does look a little to goofy!

Hey man at least yours is close to the shape, IDK why people use my original chest on their builds...ever. i mean i have some more recent ones that are MUCH better in general but still easy, and theres loads of others that are great too

Enough ranting from me, your pep work looks really good! Lets hope the rest keeps up with it

I re-did the helmet, made it slightly smaller and used a different pepakura file.

The new helmet is on the left, the old one is on the right.

Your new helmet looks tons better than the first one. I can tell you've gotten more comfortable with pep! The knife looks awesome too. I also noticed that you have both ruze's commando helmet attachment and mine. I know that ruse's is a bit more accurate, but mine has the antenna. I've been thinking about reworking my model to make it a bit more accurate if you'd be willing to wait a few days for it.

Keep up the great work!
