Being born in the 1980's, I recall growing up in a time where we dreamed about the wonderful future. The 2000s!! Where you could video chat with your family live, you could buy a car from a vending machine, and everyone had their own personal jetpacks for short range transportation. Well, 2 of those 3 came true. Now I've grown tired of waiting around for my government issued jetpack, and have decided I shall build my own! Or at least one to attach to my armor to look cool and slam into door frames.

Should be able to finish this up before C2E2 this year. Plans are to make it partially compatible with other folks armor as well so they can attach it to their suits too if desired. May also try and make it a storage container too, but with a depth of only 5" it may be too small for that. I'll know more after I finish the reverse side. Currently over 70% done with the foam construction.

And if you'd like to slap one onto your back as well, here's the Foam file for it. Enjoy!

UPDATE!!
The backside is now all foamed out. Added some structure to the inside as well so I can turn it into a backpack, provided it doesn't already weigh too much for the chest piece. Next step is to add the fine details, then I'll have to wait for better weather to get it ready for painting. Still working on the mounting system as well. I want to have 2 different styles of mounting, magnets for armor systems and a criss-cross strap system for out of armor. Need to look into seatbelt systems, would love to have the straps be hideaway when not needed.

Great looking jetpack! This will be a good reference to come back to. I'd like to make an ODST from Reach at some point, and it's not complete without the jetpack! Do you plan on adding any lights or anything?

Possibly? I don't know yet as I don't know how well they'll show out on the con floor. Would have to be some strong lights to show up coming out of the burners to look good. We had talks of maybe putting smoke emitters in as well, but they are also quite expensive. Time will tell, and I can also open it up at a later date and add them.

UPDATE!!
Small details have been added, and I added a mounting system for my armor. Ended up using 2 pieces of Velcro on the top arms and it works surprisingly well, magnets just weren't doing the trick well enough. Next up is to add a strap system for out of armor wear, and possible mounting to other's suits. As well as adding a top hatch so I can use the pack for storage as well. Then all that's left is to give it some paint. Debating if I want to keep the yellow paint as found on the in-game jetpack, or change it up and make it gold so it matches my armor...
