The surgery was a success! lol

I have cut the belt in half and now I need to conjure something up so that I can connect it and keep it together. :p

I have held it to my body and it fits perfectly! It sits right where I want it to and I held it in place and did some moving around. It feels totally comfortable and because of the rondo, there is weight to it, but it doesn't feel bad at all. :)

One way that I have thought about connecting it was buy some wide elastic bands so that I could pull it up like pants and the elastic will allow me to pull it up and the pieces will touch so that there isn't a gap from where I cut it. I know most people have used like a buckle of somesort, but with how low it sits on my hips, the buckle might be uncomfortable.

Also, there is something I need to know. I saw it once in a thread a looooong time ago, but WHAT DO PEOPLE USE FOR THAT SPACE ON THE BOOT!!??!?!?? I can't think of what it was! D:

For the belt I would suggest also cutting the little side pocket things off so you can have a 4 piece belt to bolt onto a webbing belt.

And for the boots you could either use the plunger method like Ithica or try and craft your own filler using two layers of black fabric with foam ribs in between.

I'd suggest PMing Ithica for both a means of connecting the belt bits and for the gap filler on the shoe since I can't explain it too well.

Most people use a tactical belt for the cod piece. You can see it a little bit on Adam's video on how to put on the armor. You can use hot glue to attach your pieces to the tac belt. For the boot, most people use a rubber plunger to put in the middle section. Its looking good!!

The "Plunger Method" uses these funny thingies:

You should try and find a black plunger to cut up.

Although I just took a black sock, cut it up and glued it in. Doesn't look too shabby.

I've always wanted to try holding my armor together with seatbelt buckles. Quick disconnect/reconnect, and you can sinch them tight.

I'd be more towards using male-female bag clips. They're quick-release, so you can get your armour off in a hurry if you need to, and adding in some sort of adjustment method wouldn't be too hard.

And by that, I mean more 'needing to use the bathroom' and 'what happens if you collapse on parade and need CPR?'. I want to be able to drop my belt if need be, instead of fumbling around until I'm doing the One-Legged Toilet Dance.

HA! One legged dancing. :p

I like that quick escape idea. In the army, some of our fancy combat armor has a tab you pull and the whole thing dropps.

Well, the weather has been EXTREMELY nice lately and I have been taking advantage of it as much as I can! :D Of course it's going to be getting colder, so that SUCKS! But anyway, I do have some progress to report, so here ya go!

I also started to resin the chestplate, but I don't have pictures of that. I'm sure everyone has seen an HD MK VI chestplate with resin on it before, nothing new. :p

Also, I have a MAJOR question............I am under the impression that I NEED to put body filler on EVERYTHING. Now, from what you can see in the pictures, do I HAVE to add bondo to that stuff or can I go ahead and paint it my final color and be done with it??? :eek Of course I would still need to do a few touch ups before I'm done with the pieces, but are they good to go? Do you think they are about ready for their final coat of paint or do I NEED to put bondo on all of it?

I also have another question.........since I only did the 2 piece shoe, I can't exactly get my foot through the hole at the top so I know I need to cut it and then find a way to attach it back once I put it on. My question is......where should I cut it? :eek I thought about cutting it to where I can remove just the little rectangle piece with the 4 circles since it seems easier that way.

I would only add body filler to the areas you want to smooth or add detail. There are lots of places that wont need it, the pep is just fine. I try and keep the bondo to a minimum, its a painful process. Hope that helps

Oh yeah, one more thing.........

My modification worked out pretty good! And if you don't know what modification I am talking about........it's the 1 inch strip I added to the bottom of the back of the shoe piece. I had to add that in order for my actual shoe to fit correctly. I think it looks pretty good! :D

Lady Mjolnir's..............LOL

Just read through this thread for the first time, and found it quite inspiring. Convinced me to get back to work on my armor. On the body filler, being a car lover, in my experience with the stuff (1 year auto body in high school and my uncle's a body repair man. Not claiming to be an expert or anything) The less bondo, the better. More bondo means more weight and if theres too large of an area of bondo its more likely to crack. And be careful of going too thick with it, or it may just pop out on you, and leave a hole where it once was. Since this hobby is all about personal preference, it all depends on how much detail you want on your suit. More detail will require more bondo. But if an area looks nice as is, leave it be. Covering the whole suit would not be a good idea in my opinion. Good luck with the rest of the build, and nice work so far. Can't wait to see it in yellow.

Well, I got the thighs rondo'd tonight.

I decided against wearing them for the picture since I would rather save myself from the embarrasment. They fit SO much better when they were still in the paper form and I could get them in the right place. Now they just barely go above my knee. :( And due to the fact that I do have "meatier" thighs, it's hard to get them up.

Well, it IS my first armor, but I wanted it to look and fit WAY better than this!!!! :( Now I feel like I have failed as an artist.

YAY! /sarcasm

Maybe you could sand the rondo down a little bit.

If you do start over with the thighs, add another centimeter or so to compensate for the rondo.

Those thighs might still be able to be salvaged but you'll have to do a little scratch building. Maybe you could try cutting some of the inside part of the thigh out and add longer pieces of cardstock to the inside to make the circumference of the thigh bigger.

Well, I am starting to get bummed about my armor now. Time is running short, I STILL don't have a helmet yet and now my stuff doesn't fit. :(
