It dosent really burnish badly because of the texture I use and I add a dull clearcoat after Im finished.
That's another thing I'd like to give you props on. I used a similar model painting a Rios Army of Two mask, but I used Truck Bed Liner. There's a guy called "Killbucket" in airsofting circles, who makes customized support guns, one of his mottos is "Textured paint hides a multitude of sin". Funny how you said almost the same thing.

Wow man Great video! I was kind of concerned about doing the whole weathering and battle damage part of my helmet, Until not I was debating on just painting it like a never been used helmet... Wasn't looking forward to that, But detailing when it comes to paint has never been my strong point. But thanks to your video I'm confident I can do it!

What's the name of that stuff you used for the texture?

Rustoleum textured paint any color will do your only using it as a basecoat anyway. Im glad I could help explain a few points on painting.

Now remember everyone has thier own methods and processes to painting or building really every aspect of this hobby. So take this as a example of one method and experiment try new methods materials. With this many minds focused on one hobby we should be walking around in real powered armour in no time lol.

Cheers!

Great vid. I use a lot of those techniques in model building and figure painting, good to know that it will transfer over to armor painting!
Just out of curiosity, what type of helmet was that? What was it based on?

I just noticed that your pilot helmet has some CQB and Recon elements in it, you just gotta look really close. Not intentional, I know, but cool none the less!

Nice painting technique, Privateer! *thumbs up*
