Hello Spawn! You are correct that the model has more faces. This usually happens when a model is more high definition, and has a round surface area. There is a way to reduce the faces using Pepakura Designer itself, but the process on how to do it is escaping me right now. I'm going to tag ODCA as I believe he knows how to correct this, or at the least help simplify the area a bit more.

Hey something i actually know and can kinda help with. I'm using pep 5 (not sure if the same on older version.) On your tool bar you have once called Line Color Tool and there should be a slider and check box for "Hide Nearly Flat Edges". The Slider will let you control the faces, if not you may unfortunately have to manually go through and connect faces to your liking/preferences

is there a way to cut the model down the middle since i only need half for the pattern.

You'd have to do it in a different program, or slowly manually do it in Pep Designer. Your 'Join/Separate" tool let's you separate edges and split the model in half one line at a time. The other half will still be there, but any excess pieces you can drag off screen in the top right and they'll be in the "trash area" that won't print.
