I can not wait to see this finished!!!!!!
JUST DO IT!!!!
Wow, you've got nice sacs.
Seriously though, it looks like the paint across the batch is very uniform. That's a hard thing to do, and especially on large pieces like that. Keep up the awesome work!
Your progress is such a delight to watch, can't wait to see more!
This is looking beautiful dude I can't wait to see this done!!
Wow! Words can't express, my mind is having trouble comprehending everything it just took in! Impeccable work my friend!
Thank you guys so much!
here I am.. stitting in awe of a 405th legend...
Awwww, stop! I'm blushing! I am no legend...
Oh man, i hope you get it ready in time! D :
Well wait in anticipation no more!
Just before I left for the con, I was able to connect all of the air sacs with my dad's help.
Then, I had to figure out what to do to make the tentacle tails.
I used pool noodles and applied heat to one end with a heat gun. Worked perfectly!
The last thing I had to do to make sure this costume was complete enough to take to the convention was add "skin" between the air bubbles and cover the couch foam.
I did this by covering the foam with mod podge, and basically paper mache black fabric to the foam. I made sure the fabric was wrinkled in spots and looked like bunched up skin. I sealed the top of the fabric with more mod podge to make sure it stayed in place and then sprayed it over with some black plastidip to make sure it had a uniform look.
I had most of the skin added to the costume the night before I left for the con, but I ran out of time after my sister had fallen and sprained her ankle helping me with the suit and I put everything on hold to help her.
Here is the costume in the car!
Three hours of driving and I made it to Seattle!
After we got all settled into the hotel, I immediately went downstairs to the hotel's under ground parking to finish the costume. There were only a few areas left that needed to be covered.
After a few more hours of work, the Engineer was ready for the convention!
On Saturday, we had the photoshoot!

The debut of the Engineer was overwhelmingly positive. Everyone was very happy to see it and there were lots of comments and questions as to how I made it. So many people were surprised that I turned this thing around in a matter of three weeks!
This is my favorite picture of the Engineer with a civilian.
This mom and her baby were waiting in line for a photo op with Nathan Fillian and came over to look at the Engineer. I told her it was okay to touch and she took one of the pink floofles and had the baby play with it. Made me "d'awwwww" all over the place.
There's lots of work left to do on the Engineer, but I was happy to get enough of it done in time for the convention! Males me kinda happy that it didn't make it into the contest because it definitely was not the best it could be. Maybe I can swoop in next year!
During the photoshoot, I was also stopped by Todd from Cosplay Boom and was asked for another interview for the YouTube series. I'll post a link to that as soon as it comes out!
Thanks for checking out the thread!
Any comments or critique is greatly appreciated!
