Well my little brother wrecked my truck, its totaled (Only had Liability) It was a 2004 Sierra Denali with All Wheel Steering (AWS) Thing is TOAST!! Frame is still good though. So I figured I might as well start Fabricating the body pieces out of metal to start building the WARTHOG!....I do not know How long this project will take or when I am going to get started If I am at all. (Still Undecided) But if I do I will be adding a Supercharger kit to the engine. Any ways here are some pics of my sad truck.

PS Yes I have a Newer Truck, Hence the reason I only had Liability on this one (Brother was paying for it, was letting him use the truck). Thats the main reason I do not just fix this one.

Hate to see such a nice truck total'd. Sorry you had such bad luck, but if you make a warthog you'll have something awesome

ive been thinking about starting one myself, but pobally little bigger than 3/4 the size, the real size would be to big.

well today i saw a ford truck and had its axles extended downward so the body would be higher. thats deffinitley one thing i would want to do

is only the rear passanger side bad? that is a nice truck to be modding it! geesh! (but whatever floats your boat!) you could put a small lift on it to get the frame higher.
i'll be following this...and good luck!

My brother is ok, other then bruised up a little bit. Both sides are gone. He was basically T-Boned from both sides. (He ran a red light) I had a couple of different people look at the truck and they gave me an estimate of between 9 and 14K to fix. Thats total cost after New Body, Paint and everything else, I only paid 15K for the the truck, and the whole truck is payed off. Its still a toss up on if I want to do this project. If I do, I will strip it down, Frame it up, and then skin the frame with some heavy duty sheet metal. The interior as well as other stuff will take a bit longer. But if I can get the body built its a start. If I do go ahead with this project, I hope to have it shown at Gen Con Indy 2009,

Remember! you could always build a huge pep warthog and fiberglass it! Many sport's cars use fiberglass bodies.

I thought about that, but I have been building custom speaker boxes as a hobby for the past couple of years. And I am so sick of working with fiber glass. I want someone to be able to walk up, tap it and have it feel hard and solid like armor. If Kevlar was not so damn expensive I would Kevlar the whole thing, So I will most likely be using a heavy duty sheet metal As far the the size of the truck, I would add a lift kit, bigger rims and meatier tires

This would most likely be a very frusterating, time costing, and somewhat expensive project...

But if you DID in fact succeed, I could assure you it would all be well spent, and your name would forever hold a spot in the halo universe

(in other words, please do it! )

The main body is not what I will have troubles with, I can fabricate the frame and weld the body panels. Its the small details that are going to piss me off. Like the interior and dash panel, which will prob end up having to be made out of fiberglass as well as the the Mounted Weapon in the back, Thats going to be a pain in the ass. I kind of sat down in the shop and started going over the project today...I'm going to try and build it so its street legal. Which in MT is not that hard in MT for a vehicle to be street legal a Horn, Turn Signals, Break Lights and Head lights are all that is required. We have people riding ATVs on the street in my home town. Pop is about 16k people. Any ways I gotta go cook dinner for my daughter and maybe try and get some work done on my helm.

This will be an amazing project, especially if you use it in a short film. You'd definately be on everyone's speed dial just so they could get a ride in it. I hope this turns out as amazing as we're all imagining it. My suggestion would be to have the .50 cal removable, just so you don't get pulled over by the fuzz.

Roger that, I was thinking about using a M2 barrel for the rear mounted weapon and building around that. But I will make it removable for sure. I am going to start stripping my truck down sometime in June. Anyone with ideas please feel free to post. I am open to all suggestions and ideas

This could turn out awesome! I haven’t done much work with cars, but I have done a decent amount with steal. It wouldn’t be terribly hard to shape sheet steal for the shapes of the hog (depending on the gauge). In the weta hog a lot of the pieces have been made to look like a quick fix job by the marines who were patching up a piece burnt off from plasma!
Instead of making one with the .50cal on the back, you could make the one that just has a few extra seats.

Wow, there’s a few people talking about making Hog's all of a sudden....

Yeah it was something I was talking about with some buddies awhile back and never got around to it. You could also put a gauss Cannon in the back

You might consider making the expanded troop-carrying Hog variant. It would save you having to make and mount a cannon, and it hasn't been done yet. Most people do the LAAG or Gauss version, but the troop version would make sense here. Plus you'd make the drivers around you MUCH less nervous! (probably get pulled over less too, if you ever drove it out'a MT)
