I wouldn't make a plate for the bottom of the boots simply because of traction not to mention holding up your entire body weight, but as far as the butt side of a codpiece just make sure you have several layers of fiberglass and it should be fine. I used about 5 layers of mat with a good thick coat of resin per coat to make sure it would hold up.

its looking absolutely AMAZING!!!!!!! gonna be epic when its all done :D

just wondering what is that smexy under shirt thingo you got n there?

As always, LongShot-X, excellent work!!! I am astounded, impressed, and thankful for all of the really great ideas and insights you bring to the table. Not to say that the product itself isn't absolutely stellar, because it is, but I think that this thread might deserve Elite status for the process more than the product. There are some other great projects out there, but very few go into such painstaking details regarding their actual creation. You have provided an excellent resource for noobs and experienced costumers alike. For this, I salute you. Well done, and thank you!!

Thankyou for your honesty! I value that! Yes there are quite a few AMAZING & FANTASTIC products out there... There always will be. In fact those Uber Fantastic Amazing costumes are the goals that I aspire to attain. Those creators have had way more time avalable to do it. I, on the other hand, want to get this done before Reach. Soo... I have been skipping out on some of the quality of the work and details that I have been putting into this project. I've made sure that I can go back an redo it -- and I will. Trust me... this thread is a long ways from being finished.

I love sharing solutions and ideas. Taking pics of the harder problems like "Strapping the Cod" was easy because I already had a solution to it. It was just a matter of taking the pics as I implemented the procedure. I have read alot on the forums and elsewere about strapping etc.... But none of them went into any kind of intricate detail about the Process, or it was not the right solution for my suit. Sooo I worked out a solution for my Cod. Took the pics. Posted them with some descripive text. Presto! Procedure has been posted. I Love it!

Thankyou!

Ok here's a quick question, then a serious one: How did you get so epic? Serious: Is it ok to make a plate on the bottom of your boots/ sit down on the codpeice? I know that these things are quite strong but I don't know about sitting down.... everyone seems to stand for hours at conventions and junk.... So.... What's the deal with that?

I really don't know the exact reason as to HOW I became so epic. I really don't know if I am. But I hope that this is as close to an answer that I can get: I think its because I take lots of pics. I have over 5000 pics (20gigs) taken. Post the good ones. Post lots of ideas (good and bad). Post lots of my procedures/process (some worked some need work). Keep a positive constructive and FRIENDLY attitude.

As for sitting down with the cod... nope... I have no plans to do that. That's why I wanted the cod to be "free floating". If for any reason that I want to sit down. I'll take off the cod. One easy quick disconnect and off it comes. Great for if you have to go the bathroom. Also, I have more plans for the cod... Like adding hidden pouches in the front and the back.

Cheers!

Agreed and good point. I'll need to think more on the plate for the bottom of the boots.

The I can't imagine what it would look like if you went all out, I mean really this is lookig great man. You wanna see skipping on the quality to get it done by a deadline...well you have seen mine. I am so revisiting it later (probably a whole new build...don't tell me wife) because I know I am above what I am producing right now and it'll eat at me until I do. You on the other hand, must poop solid gold if this is what you call skipping on detail. Belive me, I am looking forward to seeing this completed.

I bow to your awesomeness

Thanks for your comments... They left me flattered, humbled and tickled Pink!

An example of what I am skipping on detail is the SANDING and Detailed PAINTING. I would love to spend hours and hours sanding the suit to a mirror like finish. I would also like to spend hours and hours of Airbrush Painting. I know that I can go back at any time and resand/paint. I know how to do it. So for now I'll just deal with what needs to be done to make it presentable --and-- IN TIME for the launch of Reach.

Cheers!

Imma agree with whoever it was that said this process is exactly what everybody needs. This thing is gonna be SOOOO helpful when (and if) I ever get my own Mk VI going. Hoping to get it going after my ODST is finished, then, for the heck of it, I might challenge Longshot to see if I can make my Mk VI look half as good as his. lol I'm just gonna use you as my mentor for the project. You know everything. :p

Anyway, keep the pics coming! We all wanna see this Bad Son rollin'! Good job, keep it up!

Hey... I'd be glad to mentor you when you commit to making a MK VI. We'll see if I can get you to make it TWICE as better as mine! LOL :p

Minor update: Almost finished painting the Wrist, Forearms and Cod pieces... All that's left is to Dry Brush the "Silver Hammered" paint.
I also get to test the "other" Velcro issue with the heel portion of the boot covers. --AND-- To test the correction for the strappings on the Cod pieces. Yes I decided to fix the positioning of the cod and butt plates posts.

THEN.... I get to try it all on and take some pics!

Doh... that reminds me... gotta get the Air Conditioning working... It gets really hot in that suit.

Back to finish up the painting...

Cheers!

Progress Update

Minor Progress Update:

Ok.. so I did not get a chance to try everything on due to the lateness of the night.

BUT! I did get these done:

All painted! Still need to add LED's to the Forearms. That's for tomorrow.

Soo let's see what the Armor Status looks like now. Hmmmmm?

Only 4 pieces left. Bondoing is 50% done on the chest. 20% done for each shoulder and 0% on the Helm. I have just over 1 week to get this done... I think that there's plenty of time.

Cheers!

Ok I just mean like it won't get crushed if a fat kid puts it on lol. And anyway, I doubt that I'm even going to MAKE armour let alone a full suit. So far the Pep that I am doing SUCKS LIKE HELLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL

Thanks! I love painting. Especially drybrushing. I could spend ooodles of time just painting. But due to time constraints this is the best that I could do. I want to go back at a later date and continue to add details.
Glad that this thread is helpfull. Feel free to copy and use them to your hearts content. That's what its here for.

Nice work on your MKVI project!

Cheers

Been there done that! LOL. My 1st few pieces kinda suck too. Mainly the shoulders (resin warpping) and parts of the helm. I might end up re-doing the shoulders at a later date. For now, I'll continue to see how they look after the Bondo and Painting. I was a really green "wet behind the ears" noob back then!

Cheers
