If it were me, I'd sculpt the piece in a harder wax based clay (I like Chavant) then mold it in silicone and cast it up in resin. Then maybe sand it down and polish it, then mold it again. That's me though, lol. The materials are easily accessible but can be pricy. You wouldn't need a whole lot of chemicals, so If you wanted to go that route, I would just get like the sample quantity. I would use Hard Chavant clay, Silicone GI-1000, and Smoothcast 320 resin.

Would love to do that but supplies on this island for this stuff is quite limited. Time is also an issue so that rules out ordering stuff in. The remolding of a cleaned up cast is something I aim to do. Thanks so much for the grocery list though, definitely going to give those a look. Astounding work with your android sculpt, love seeing original pieces.

So it's pretty much done

My apologies with the lack of updates, I'll trying to do some catchup for those who are still interested.

Last I've updated I left you guys with an ear sculpt. Well the first one was scrapped and I just went with a simpler approach of just making the puck without the vents.

Not perfect but simple to clean up. I then sent it to my friend to dremel the slots and back to me to finish with detail filers.

Nothing pristine but was growing short on time so I learned to accept what we have.

Speaking of the quick schedule, I won't be making any copies for myself so I finally attached the wings to the helmet.

After clean up it was ready for paint so I handed it over to Ghostdude.

Gotta hand it to him for pulling off such a good job for the short time I gave him and fact that this is the first helm he's painted. Be sure to look out for more of his work in the future, builds and paint.
For more pics of the painting process here's his album. http://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.10151377498598828.524890.595213827&type=3

Now with all that done we got it packaged up and ready for presentation.

I admit it's far from perfect but I'm quite proud of it being my first full lid :p
