It depends on how detailed the piece is, the forearm was 3 coats, but I got bored the other day and the odst helmet made me happy so I carved the chestplate and only put one on it. Alot of edges and groves I'll add more because I use alot of chisels and files to get sharp edges and they require a decent amount of pressure. I used normal old cheap poly resin.

Having mild regrets about making the tread on the boot. its extremely irritating. As a side no, I'm not making the tread perfect because its going to be under my foot. Next day or two I should have The back half finished.

Well, I haven't had much time lately, did a few short films, prepping for my union exam, and getting ready for the local Sci Fi Convention, I've been busting my ass molding ODST Helmet, Halo 3 battle rifle, GoW Lancer, Halo Pistol, and Carmine Helmets. Mid April I'll be able to focus on The armor again, get the boot done and start on the shin then get the thighs done as well as start sculpting the helmet. I'd like to focus on Jorge, but well, mortgage gotta get paid.

well it's about 2 days from being mid april! you working on this still? and damn i can't wait to see this done! your bondo work is FLAWLESS! (envy) i tried to bondo a shin for my Kat build, but damn did it ruin it! your build is truly awesome so far, even though we've only really seen the forearm and boots =p can't imagine what the chest and helmet will look like

Check me out! Just finished work on the short film and sci-fi convention here.... holy crap I spread myself too thin. Today is a day of paperwork and a meeting for another film. Tomorrow I clean my workshop after the shenanigans of making a ton of props and molds and then tomorrow, I'm hoping to get alot done on the Boot, hopefully finished, and start planning on the shin. I tent to work from the ground up so once the lower half is done then the joy of the chest will begin along with sculpting the helmet in clay. Go mini update.

Been sick as hell the one week I've had off so no fiberglass or bondo work, I have been sculpting the straps that hold the UA attachment to the bracers. Once this film is done (Saturday) I'll post pics of that and maybe sort my mail and pay bills.

The Straps on the Forearm are based in and kinda smoothed out. I haven't had a chance to do any fiberglass or body filler lately as my workshop just got a vacuform table and I've gotten requested for a RObocop helmet and a Judge Dredd helmet. But annnyways, The straps are sculpted in a hard sulfur free clay so that it wont screw up the silicone when I mold it. Please keep in mind that i need to smooth them more, add rivits and the detailing on the buckles on the side.

And other than that I've been mostly testing products for the semi rigid pieces, I found a delightful black rubber that holds shape amazingly well, but you need to put the paint job in the mold to paint the rubber, any paints I've tried so far flake off unless they're bonded directly to the rubber as it cures. I'm planing on playing with fibreglass tonight so lets see what i get done by morning. Oh, and M6 I made Sans Scope

Well that was a day... bondo stanks.
So, today involved bondoing most of the front of the boots, most of the thigh pad front and back, ran, seamed and primed another M6 Pistol which will be painted tomorrow, bondoed a lot of my ODST Chest Plate, and finished weathering a repainted 12 inch spartan in actual Flat Olive Drab airbrushed paint. Oh, and Started a prototype for the laser sight for the M6. Bam! I need a nap.
