well today i installed my subwoofers in my car, i DO NOT listen to rap.. or pop. but i enjoy classic rock, and some new rock... is there any rock songs off hand you can list that have decent bass? for example the white stripes, 7 nation army has tons of bass, anybody else have a name and artist? just curious and thanks for the input

any house, or rave, drum and bass, or techno is good.

some bands include system of the down, draft punk, benny bannassi, enome, armin van buuren, bass hunter, chemical brothers, some ddr tracks, nightwish.... the list goes on.

if you want non popular artisits that you can dowload free with no copyright issues id sugest you look into the newgrounds.com audio portal and browse through their for good bass songs

remember bass is all in a matter of opinion. and such so is a sound of things. if you really want alot of good music look into alternative rock, metal, techno, german bands like rammstein and so on. another good place to look is yahoo music you can browse through artsts and find things their.. good luck hunting and finding the stuff you like and expanding your musical taste!

If you want a good song that might just be a fun one to use to toy with the bass, try the Travis Barker Drum Solo. A friend of mine used to use it to tune HUGE bass speakers when he would set up a sound system in a theater or for a band.

for me right now a good band with some bass stuff is HollyWood Undead they have a mix of rap/rock and metal.

Yes indeed! Bass Hunter is an awesome band! Their song, "Dota" is the best. It's got bass like you won't believe.

I would recommend getting on sites like slacker or the music genome project to get an idea of what kind of genres have the best bass. But overall, I'd say techno as a genre has the most bass of all.

Led Zeppelin had some very good bass lines in several of their greatest hits, Coldplay's 'Clocks' has a very nice bass, although you have to listen for it because it is mixed with the piano, and let's not forget 'Sweet Emotion' by Aerosmith!

Rock:

Disposition by Tool (will probably liquify your brain with the bass frequencies that come through on it)
One of These Days by Pink Floyd
-1 by Mudvayne
Not Falling by Mudvayne
Passenger by Deftones
Feuer Frei by Rammstein
anything from Dethklok
Voodoo and Spiral by Godsmack
Closer by Nine Inch Nails
Save Yourself by Stabbing Westward
Invincible by Static-X
Cold by Static-X
Mic Check by Rage Against the Machine
More Human Than Human by White Zombie
Blood, Milk, and Sky by White Zombie
Never Gonna Stop by Rob Zombie

Electronic:

Zion by Fluke
Snapshot by Fluke (your car will sound like a thunderstorm coming down the street with full bass on this one!)
Angel by Massive Attack (from the movie Snatch)
The Girl with the Sun in Her Head by Orbital (beginning and lull in the middle have heavy bass)
Spybreak by Propellerheads
Hong Kong Triad by Thievery Corporation
Ventolin (Deep Gong Mix) by Aphex Twin
Windowlicker by Aphex Twin
Starting Over by The Crystal Method
Name of the Game by The Crystal Method
Around the World by Daft Punk
Technologic by Daft Punk
Hindshot by DJ Shadow

Diesel Power by Prodigy
Future Proof by Massive Attack
Disco Science by Mirwais
Supahero (Instrumental) by RJD2
Bidibodi Bidibu (Satollo Mix) by Bubbles (from the part in Super Troopers where the German swingers get pulled over in the stolen Porsche)

Other:

Ghoast Train by Gorillaz
The Riven Soundtrack (slow and melodic but Bass Heavy!)

That's pretty much all I could find out of my iTunes

wow, yeah led zepllins been a long time, is awesome.. thanks for the help guys. sorry for posting such a otherwise stupid post but, just couldn't resist. thanks again

Pendulum.
Not so much "Rock", But they're definitely worth giving a listen to.
All have good bass.
Especially "The Tempest", Fav song of them all.

Anything by Audioslave or Rage Against the Machine.

Show Me How to Live or Cochise by Audioslave are two that immediately spring to mind.

As far as RATM go, well you're spoiled for choice. People of the Sun, Bulls on Parade, Pistol Grip Pump, Bombtrack, man anything by those guys will go a long way to shattering windows.

I would definatly have to say Mindless Self Indulgence has some kick your teeth through your head bass. Thats my suspension rumbler of choice along with everything else that has been suggested

Hahahah Mindless Self Indulgence ...YES!!

....with them in mind I'm going to go and listen to "Pop Will Eat Itself". Awesome band! They'll give your bass a workout too.

Oh and if you REALLY want to test out your bass listen to Almost Again by Smashing Young Lad. There's certain parts of that song that try to destroy your woofers.

Being a bassist, I tend to listen for EXTREME bass lines, here are my suggestions:
Immigrant song-Led Zeppelin, Awesome chorus part
Most of Red hot chili peppers songs have good bass lines
During the verse of "Slow ride" the bass does a great slap riff.

Girl You Chew My Mind Up by The Presets also has sick bass now that I think about it. And the album Modus Operandi by Photek (a sweet drum & bass band that's as good as Source Direct) also has some woofer destroying potential to it, especially the songs Minotaur and Trans 7.
