few questions how did you get the shoulder pads to stay on

Thanks guys! The shoulder pads have a strap that wraps around my upper arm, plus a strap that goes up and attaches to a strap that was already on the shoulder of my BDU jacket.
I think after this is done, I'm going to start on version 2. I've really been in a hurry on this one to get it done before I go to DragonCon.
