My first armor, halo 3 Recon (Pepakura)

Hi all, just joined this site, probably would have been a better idea before i finished my helmet lol.
I've never made or sculpted anything before (not really good at it) but really wanted to try this pepakura program i heard about, so printed off a Recon helmet just to see what it was like. I know its probably nowhere near as good as anybody elses but this was my first try :p

It got really difficult around the corner of the visor area, and the whole visor area in general, the right eye brow area went a bit wrong aswell, but hopefully all these errors can be fixed once its all resined up.

Need to trim around the neck aswell, before i put the neck parts that extended inwards in it fit me perfectly, but now i cant get my melon inside lol.

Here's a photo of me wearing it before i glued the face plate and visor to the main part of the helmet.

And here's it after all glued up :)
And no i didnt use snot to glue it, its just extra strong pritt stick which is green for some reason lol.

So how'd i do for a first try?
I know there are a hell of a lot of mistakes with it, kinda went crazy towards the end, but i'd love to make the full armor some day, soon hopefully.

that helmet looks really smooth man, what kind of paper/cardstock did you use?
can't wait to see how the rest is going to look !

It looks really good! I've never built one myself, but Im going to start. Me and my husband want to build a full set of armor for the following year at a Cosplay event. I was just wondering, how did you know when to fold the tabs mountain-wise and valley-wise?

Thanks both :D
Gonna be a while before i can get the resin so thought i'd start on the chest piece, i like some aspects of the halo Reach style armor but like the main Halo 3 armor, so i wanted the main chest piece to be halo 3 style with a ghillie scarf like Reach and maybe Pilot chest, halo 3 CQB, or something else.

Before i go off searching whats regarded as the best halo 3 pepakura file?
Is this one any good?

It depends, if you want to use less bondo and spend less money then yes. But if you want to spend less time with peping and use more bondo and spend a little more money(depends on how much you use) then a lower definition file would be fine.

Thanks, just got the paper ready today, downloaded the HD file in the end.

I still cant decide what chest piece to have. I like some of the armor in halo reach and some in halo 3. Regardless of what i choose should i make the default torso first then does any customisable chest plate go on top of the default?
Just thought i'd ask before going searching.

A little update, i left the helmet untouched ont the shelf for too long, and i think its FUBAR. Funnily enough it was hanging of my Legendary Reach statue and sagged majorly.

Havent done anything more since this first post and now i want to try again. However im not sure whether or not to try a classic reach/3 spartan or wait for a Halo 4 one. I've always thought spartans look awesome but the halo 4 designs make all the others look like toys to me lol.

Might start again, my head fits in it, but i have to either flex it or put it on in pieces, it fits my head it but not my ears.

Would this matter when its all hard or is that a sign its too small?
