Those look amazing, but it seems to me (and im no expert by any means) that the grips are thin compared to the slide of the gun. I mean if you look at references of actual hand guns the grip is usually only a slight bit smaller then then slide. Yours appears to be about a third the overall width. Just food for thought.

So, batch #1 is now complete and was a hit at NYCC! Here's a little more process:

After filling with joint compound, it was back to sanding/ priming to hide the seam:

Until they're finally ready for paint:

The base-coat consists of matte aluminum Krylon dusted with a gunmetal acrylic spray to give it a worn luster:

Then some weathering via brown acrylic wiped into the crevices and more aluminum dry-brushed on the edges:

The grips are laser cut from an AutoCAD layout I made from scanning and tracing a paper template:

here is a question

since you have the 3d printer why dont you make movable parts so it could be all fonctional ?

it would be a matter small parts..

omg want one now.

How much are you selling these for, if you are?

Came to ask the same thing

These are definitely for sale on a made-to-order basis (customizations welcome), but I would like to first confirm with a mod that buying/ selling is indeed allowed in this forum before posting the price. Until then feel free to send me a PM for more info!

The process of printing, cleaning, and surface finishing the prints was by far the most time and labor intensive part of the build, but needed to be done only once as I can now replicate it's final product with the molds. I think it will be faster to take the resin reproductions and strategically separate parts intended for movement in order to get things like a squeeze-able trigger, spring-loaded slide, or removable mag. All of which are definitely coming in a future variants!

Open sales outside the Classifieds Forum are not allowed. You gain access to the Classifieds when you reach Infantryman status.

There IS always Etsy, but I'm not sure if referring a member to a site is kosher by forum standards. (Mods feel free to delete my post if I just committed a forum crime)

these are amazing.

i will be waiting for you to get your infantryman status.

Thanks! Me too :)

And sorry for the delay, this project is NOT in fact dead. A break after the push for Comic-Com turned into getting swamped at work, but I'm now on-track and have a teaser for my first variant, a fully engraved 1911-style model made out of cold-cast aluminum that I call "Magritte":

My goal is to be done with this one by the end of the week, so hopefully by then I will have some pics up of the finished product.

Magritte is done! Might not be everyone's cup of tea, but it was a special request and I dig the way it turned out. Kind of like something a high-ranking officer would have as an heirloom or ceremonial keepsake:

Can someone like I with Infantryman status help him with his post by posting it for him in classifieds and give his information to give him a start.

A quick teaser for variant #3 -some muzzle break and extended clip action:

Great work! Do mine eyes deceive me or is that some laser cut wood in the handle of the Magritte? Also, it would be pretty darn cool if you modified the file to have a moving slide.

Outstanding work dude! :D I'm really looking forward to see variations of the pistol.
Oh you got a pm btw.
