So now that I've don't yet another mk.50 sidekick (3rd Pic and 3 in total) it's time to try my hand at something a bit bigger, the MA50 from infinite. I do have the nerf one but I want something lighter and can easily attach to my back without fear of falling off and breaking. I'm using the AndrewDFT template along with N8tebb and Bajk02 build threads to help as guides.

For scale the DFT AR is roughly the same size as the foam Battle Rifle you typically find at bigger conventions. I haven't done much yet other than getting the rough shape cut out 3 layers of 10mm foam and a channel dremeled out for a ¾" wooden dowle to act a barrel and to give it structure.

Started on the layer details and since I'm doing a build thread might as well put what thickness foam I'm using for said parts. I got the barrel, flashlight and what I'd assume a gas port in, only the barrel is set for now.

Magazine I took about 6-7mm off and layered 2/2mm and used N8tebbs way for magnets. The magnets are 1in neodymium cubes I inlayed into the gun and covered back up to make it flush. Details will cover the cuts

Since I didn't have any work to do at work, I decided I should bring stuff to keep me busy.
I did get pulled away to do random tasks but boss man was cool with it. I got the cheek pad and part of the receiver done at work, layered a big piece of 2mm over 5mm and kept making a note that it ejects on the right side.
Pic 3 is what I came up with to have a seamless cheek and for the receiver it's 2mm on 3mm with 3mm for the bar piece under the cheek pad.
Also ended up redoing the little detail by the trigger because I messed it up and since the back half is done I added more to the butstock to be kinda flush with the rest of the rifle.
Got a little bit left to do on it but it'll be slow going with the attention I'm putting in it. Still not sure what coating I want to go with maybe timeless moss?

I got quite a bit done today, started off with the upper receiver detail which was a pain for me to do getting the curves just right and the upper shroud wrap and the piece right under it just fit without any type of altering, It's really starting to come together now. Wrapped the wooden dowle in 2mm foam to give a little bit more with and put in ½" foam dowles for the gas tube and used the spacers that came with the magnets to make a flashing.
The hand guard is a plastic tube I got from work that's about 1" thick or so with 10mm foam around it, tho I might put some 3 or 5 to make it bigger then finish it's details. Started on the ammo counter but one thing that's got me completely stumped is the thing between the counter and the shroud. I've got no clue how to make it. Guess I'm saving it for very last

Gotta say this turned out better than expected. The ammo counter and the piece in from really threw me for a loop on how to make them but made something work in the end, not exact but pretty close. Got all the tiny details done that I can think of minus lettering. Next step is putting magnets in the back of the chest plate and my favorite painting.

Magnets are in and it hold sturdy, and things are getting ready for paint. The ar is gonna be timeless moss and sidekick is electric bubblegum

I got the detail colors on and damn am I impressed with this, I love the complete opposite in colors of the ar and sidekick. Timeless moss may not be exact but close to what i could find paint wise while Electric bubblegum is alot closer to in game. The next weapon in the pipeline is the m99 stanchion and to repaint my battle rifle but mk.vii may come first, we'll see.

Here's a bonus. I ordered another set of magnets to put into the battle rifle to carry around and it's gonna be the hcs launch coating which is one of my personal favorites being it has a deep green color.
