Pair of Energy Sword Foam Replica

I recently finished my first foam weapon (Pistol, video here-

) and after I got my girlfriend into Halo she really got into melee weapons, I promised her I'd make her a pair of energy swords. She is a short girl so they won't be sized to the game, I'm going to size it to her. I've only worked on it for about two hours so far but here is what I have.

So far I've sanded and shaped half of one side of a handle down and I plan on finishing the other side later. She likes how it is so far so I'm happy.
I'll shape out an entire sword before moving on to the next and then paint them at the same time.

Day 2 of work and here I am, finished shaping the handle with my Dremel battery killing right when I finished (I finally luck out with that) and I cut out the blades.
First off here was the stencil I cut out

And here are the blades cut out

All that's left is to shape the blades and I am finished with one until painting both!

Nice job! I am concerned though, based on the material it's made from, how will you keep the tips from breaking off? It looks like they'd snap off if they hit a wall on accident or something.

Not exactly haha, I have been thinking about it throughout the process though. I have a few ideas but not sure which way I will go.

I have no idea, and yes they would break if we hit it against the wall hard enough, but it will be for my girlfriend and we will most likely just hang them up on the wall in her room after they are finished.

90% finished with one, all that's left is to sand it and cut a little off and then off to painting. Now onto the next one!
I am going to straighten the crooked parts of the blade once I sand it, it's a little late so I didn't want to go outside and sand. Mosquitoes suck too :/
