so im sitting here, with my fully pepped Mk VI and thinking, "what can i do until i can go get some resin, fiberglass cloth and bondo tomorrow?". so i start making a M6D! By now ive done alot of pepping (which is why i have to post here cause i all i do is work on my pepakura and not post like a should, sorry!)and have a good feel for it. but this pistol have like, 450 folds and on the 8 pages of cut outs i have like 100 peices! so i just got an idea. i went and grabbed some ziplock bags, turned on "Number pages" on pepakura and marked out 8 ziplocks 1-8 and now as i cut out my peices i just put them in the page's ziplock. and the bigger ones that dont fit? thank you god for inventing paper clips (and shrinky dinks)

ok. here we go.

this M6D has 8 pages and over 350 edge ID's its hard to follow when i just have them stacked in a pile and am trying to find just 1 number to go with the one I'm on.

here is the pepakura window with the page numbers on :

scenario: i have a piece from page 4 and i want to find a piece that goes on it. pic of page 4 bag:

I use the "Check corresponding face" button to find that the piece from page 4 is on page 8!

4-8.jpg

so i grab the bag marked "Pg 8":

and then i pull out the pice i need, only haveing to look thru a few peices instead of a ton for one little piece!

and here is a picture of some REALLY good german beer called Alt. if your ever in the Dusseldorf area, i suggest you try it....still waiting for my relatives to send me more :D (this has nothing to do with my sorting method, its just really good beer.... >.>)

My basic plan is that when i have them all cut out and creased with my blue and red pens (mountain valley respectively :p) i can use the "Check corresponding face" function in pepakura and only have to sort thru a small handful of peices instead of a hundred at a time when trying to find my next peice!

as long as i help someone im happy, and if someone posted this alrdy i am sorry and il delete this to preserve your glory. :D

Edit: i added the full pic explanation from a few posts below just so it is seen right away. i also changed the topic name to something more descriptive

So basicly what you do is to put all your pieces into ziplock bags?

That Idea's been around for a long time, believe me.

Also, you dont really have to number the ziplock bags 'cause the placements of the pieces on the different pages isn't in any particular order to glue in, just what fits in the best.

So it doesn't matter where you put them in, as long as you have all the parts.

Still a real good idea :D

You got any Progress threads or something?

I'd like to see some pics ;)

its not to help with order as much as it is make it easier to find a certain peice you are glueing to another at that time. ive been doing it for about 2 days now and i wish i had thought of it while pepping my suit lol

I only cut the pieces that i need at a given time. I used to cut them all out, score them, then glue them. However, its annoying going through the stack looking for the right one and i get bored quicker. Now, i cut the ones i need, score, glue, and move on to the next part(s).

I just write the number of the page on the back of the piece and arrange them into neat little piles. I think I might try this for my ODST shins.

yeh, some of these pieces on the M6D are smaller than the nail on my pinky finger tho...not alot of writing room and lots of room to lose them
