Phoenix Team Build

Since my brother is into odsts, I have made up my mind and am going odst- no point in having this many Spartans and no marines around. I have some ideas to set my odst apart from the crowd.

Ok. ^^ I agree, need some ODSTs. Mix it up a little. lol I'll update your info on the front page.

Welcome to the team Rosh! :D

Cool! I agree. A few marines are necessary. Plus, now we don't have to worry too much about the height difference. xD

Really bummed I couldn't make it out last night. I'll be there next time for sure. Glad to hear you guys have more ODSTs now.

Rosh- you should check out my ODST Pep thread at the bottom of my signature. I have some super easy to build files that are very game accurate. I just release a new HD helmet a few days ago too.

Yeah. We waited a good hour before ordering icecream. Next time, dude! Just be sure to check the Meet Up forum.

So after the meeting last night, I was inspired to take a stab at the fiberglass resin... unfortunately, my supplier won't have all of my crap in stock till friday :( But I did get a decent price and reference as to how much it'll cost for shtuff. The 1qt of resin and 8sqft of mat come out to about $20 after tax in AZ. And for my whole starter kit, (respirator, cartridges, resin, mat, and cheap paint brush) I came out to just under $60. Of course, it might be a little more expensive at Home Depot or body shop stores... But that'll at least kick Phoenix Team in the right direction. And I'll be the test dummy with my first ever pep'ed shoulder on Saturday.

Also, I found a Maglilte kit on sale at Home depot that comes with a lot of the essentials I need for the laser, built in! And it was cheap: $30.

Hello, hello 405th and Phoenix Team~! <3 Miss me~? ^_~*

I've been working on designs in my mind, not really jotting them down, haven't had the time. Good to see you all are making progress, though! I'm sorry that your piece was too big Rick, but at least we realized that now rather than later. :)
Nice to see Clouds is still a nut, but doing some neato stuff, and I am just about to check the progress of the ladies. I've been a bit busy doing nonsense over here in Kihei, and talking to Anicken, who is busy enjoying foreign soil and Typhoons... Lucky jerk...
I am hoping to make it to the next meet up, whenever that may be. So cross your fingers (and wings if you have any) that Aether will be there next time~! <3
Hopefully talk to you soon... If not-- See you in two weeks~!

Aloha,

~Aether <3

So I've fiberglassed my first piece, and learned a few things the hard way... 1st: when matting the backside, cut it to about 1/8" smaller than actual overall shape, otherwise you'll end up having to sand... A LOT. And 2nd: use the right amount of hardener. First coat had too much; dried way too fast. Second coat didn't have enough. Now I'll have to Apply a third coat and hope that it fixes the previous mistake.

But I did find a good deal on supplies: ya know those lnch lady gloves from elementary school? $1 for a 50 Pair pack at most dollar stores. Sand paper ($3-$6) and pack of 36 brushes ($6) at Harbor Freight. Most useful, and all disposable. No cleaning :D When I finish the sanding, I'll primer it and take pics.

Question now for Rinoc... I want to do a different suit, now that I've seen what it takes. Since you are officially our go-to guy for Peps, (according to Roxy :) ) I figured I should ask you. Are there peps out there for the Halo Wars Spartan armor (Below)? And if not, how difficult would it be for you to make them?

You're always so helpful, Rhinoc. ^_^

Congrats on making it on the Sigma Preproduction team. :D

Thank you!!
I'm actually one of the 3d modelers, Brutes, the Announcer and probably some other stuff that I forgot... lol

I have a few mk iv pep files saved, left shoulder, shins and chest come to mind. The chest is easily the most detailed pep I've ever seen (lags my comp down to look at it even) but there's a low def size tester too- agbates made some amazing models of it. Your interest makes me wish I had finished my helm sculpt. I suppose I could always start one back up for ya though : p

When I get back from Nevada next week I'll email them to ya.

Thanks so much Rhinoc and Rosh! I'll be putting up a pic of my failed piece today eventually, and get the process of starting the Mark IV rolling. I may have found a marine to add to the group... that's also to be determined today.

Rosh, I might have to catch you when you're back in town to get those other Peps.

Rhinoc, this team owes you big time. Let me know how we can make it up to you, and please keep doing what you do.

Aether, I'm glad you like it. You are an AI... you'll have to be in my suite too... figuratively of course ;)

Looking good so far!
a year, that's alot of time! ( my suit needs to be finished in 2 weeks from now XD)
