just an idea but there are plastic signs and stuff where all they did was cut into them and use LED lights from the side to illuminate the cute areas - since you line up your eyes with the eye sockets (so you can see) if you centered it right and did a little carving work on the visor you should be able to do the same effect

Not gonna lie here, gonna take some skills carving into a acrylic visor to get it to look right, but maybe it'll inspire other ideas as well.
One side (usually the front) is all smooth, but the other has the carving into it, sometimes they dual layer the acrylic to have smooth sides on both sides.
You might also look into the Glass Etching stuff
