Nick Nack, question about your chest paint job. I'm in the process of painting my foam chest piece and I'm finding that if I use any kind of sprayed paint, it just soaks into the foam when it dries. So I've for now just used the ol' brush on method and it seems to have come close to the color I"m after. Mind you I'm using a darker green but had to lay it on thick. Any problems on your end with that?

Did you coat your foam armor in plastidip? I recommend getting the plastidip that is in a spray can cuase it's not as messy and then let that dry and give it a coat of primer and it wont soak in your paint when you spray paint it

that is a really creative idea to wire your gun up like that. and your pilot is turning out great. very smooth. and very fast work! i wich i could work as fast as you, but i get frusterated with pepakura because i don't see progress fast enough. i really like this build, and i think you will set many examples for everybody on this website. and i just want to thank you already for the neck seal idea. it is genious. if i were you, i would sell them:D but i am very pumped to see your nest update:)

Thank you. I ran out of foam. I just ordered some yesterday. it should becoming in the mail next week I hope. In that time I'll be working on and finally updating my friends Dean Space 2 Armor. Check it out http://www.405th.com/showthread.php/30298-Dead-Space-2-Armor-amp-Weapons-(-Pic-Heavy-)/page7

that gun is unreal. is that styrene (or how ever it is spelled) that you are using for it? and if it is, what thickness are you using and how hard is it to work with (cut and shape)?

Thank You. Styrene is great stuff. Its mostly used for vacuum forming. But It perfect for Weapon and armor making. I use 0.60 and 0.30 in other measurements its the 1/16 and the 1/32. Cuting is easy. I use a xacto knife. Just go over the shape you want a few times with the blade, bend the styrene a little and then the shape pops out. It Bonds together great with Super Glue. I use gorilla super glue

O.O <-------- my reaction
I'm so ... excited to see your work! You're my reason to continue my noble 6.
You, your armor, your machine gun are just epic.

"This is madness! ... No, this is 405th!!" :)

It might be because I use a different type of foam. The foam I use dont really absorb anything. Are you using the floor mat foam? I have a friend that is using the floor mat foam and his paint went on great. Here is a picture of him with his chest freshly painted

He used A can of Plasti Dip, Which is like rubber in a can. It comes in a aerosol paint can. You can find it Online, Lowes, and Home Depot. its about $7 a can. Coat your foam with that, use a thick primer, and your ready to roll.

this is a really impressive suit you've got going on here! :) Really looking forward to seeing more of this build.

Hey I think i missed something when I was going through the topic, what did you use for the knives? It looks like some of the plastic Tactonyx uses, but what kind is it?

Galvatron, I guess forget the link I sent you in the PM, it seems you already know about it, lol. As for the rubber in a can, I did not know/use it, I'm pretty much done the chest now, and I like the way it looks, I'll have to try that stuff on the rest of armor pieces, thanks!

I do believe that chest piece is THE best one i have seen as of yet. The attention to detail is staggering. I am seriously considering switching to foam for my next build. Keep up the amazing work. Cant wait to see more. :)

Don't know if this has been answered before. But what kind of leds did you use for the chest piece?

I use 3mm or 5mm White LED Lamp 15000mcd.

Hello 405th. Do anyone knows of have a good Jorge's Grenadier Shoulders file? I found one, but it not that accurate. I'm too lazy to make it from scratch. Can anyone help me. I'll love you forever if you do ;)

question is that knife made of paperstock with resin and bondo, where's the files? send me a message please

If you look at his very first post, you will see that the knife is styrene. He shows exactly how he made it as well.

This build is looking great! I'm definately going to use your idea for the neck seal when I get to building my new torso!

You can get Styrene at a lot of hobby shops. Its a Plastic Sheet. Some call it Sheet Styrene. Used a lot for detail modeling.

OT: I'm in love with that gun.. i wants one!

what does it look like

Polystyrene/ Styrene Is a plastic. You can get it from almost any craft and hobby stores and Plastic Warehouse. I get mines from a warehouse call McMaster-Carr. They only three locations in the US. Luckily for me I live only 13 miles away from one. But You can order it online http://www.mcmaster.com/#plastics/=c5qjl9

They are many thickness of styrene. I use 0.30 ( 1/32 ) and also 0.60 ( 1/16 ). 0.30 has the thickness of a dime. Its strong but its also flexible. You can almost bend it like paper. 0.60 is a lot thicker and stronger. I use it for mostly the main bodies of my builds.

You can build a lot of things with Styrene. Just to give you a idea. Here are some of the thing I have made and making.
