Hey there 405th, I just figured I would show something not many have seen before.

I wanted to make a Pink Power Ranger helmet for my wife for Halloween, and it was extremly hard to find the Pepakura files for it.

Thanksfully I finally found one!! SPECIAL THANKS to DungBeetle!!

He made this out and then scale it to the same size as the green ranger helmet.

Anyways I figured I'd let 405th be let in on the project! Any questions feel free to ask!!

I'm going to post pictures within 2 days!! Don't worry Infrantry men... :) I almost have the helmet complete right now. Just give me one second =D

This be the helmet! I used a exo knife to score the folds.

The Helmet is not made of regular computer paper!! * Use Card Stock *
Also the paper is NOT repeat NOT TAPED TOGETHER!! * Use Hot glue to secure the paper to paper together!
And I didnt just fold the paper... I cut it with a small sharp knife called "Exo knife", basically cut the paper almost all the way through, NOT ALL THE WAY, then simply fold it over... AMAZING FOLDS this way!!

The Pieces are simply printed out and cut apart ( like a 3-D puzzle )

* AGAIN SPECIAL THANKS to DungBeetle for making the design!! **

I'll post more pictures later- Wife has her lunch break!! GOT-a-RUN

After you have your paper model ready... Its time to Fiberglass or "Fiberglass resin"
This process is only sticky if your extremly messy. (I've heard stories that this fiberglass resin can eat your skin on your head)
Haha, anyways! This is the helmet after I used " Fiberglass resin " - I painted a thin layer on the outside of the helmet with a paintbrush. Notice the color change from solid white to slightly yellowish.

Okay- At this point I made a small, but could have been major mistake

I tried on the helmet before I did the "Rondo" - (rondo is 1/5 cup fiberglass resin & 4/5 cup bondo) The helmet again fit, but I totally forgot that bondo/resin takes up room on the inside once you pour it in!! So the helmet got smaller!

Well after I poured the "Rondo" in..... it hardened in the inside of the helmet and I sanded parts down on the outside.
*I used a Dremel tool 300 and many different sanding tips from 405th.
**If you need help buying a dremel tool - TAKE ADVICE FROM THE PROS - look at this FORUM!! ---> http://www.405th.com/showthread.php/35146-Help-buying-Dremel-Tool

Anyways this is the helmet after slightly sanded and Hard as a rock due to "Rondo" !!

Well after this- Most of the sticky/hot glue/resin/bondo is done-

Sanding is the big thing and maybe alittle more bondo for touch ups. *Also- You must cut the helmet in Half in order to get it on.*

So dremel tool is very handy here ( sand paper will not cut it ) so After I got it sanded down pretty good... I thought it was smooth enough for paint, I went ahead and cut out most of the visor- the part you see out of =D

- YES that is a MARK 5 Master Chief Helmet beside the Pink Ranger Helmet! I'm remaking my helmet because my very first helmet I was a noob!!

Okay the picture above is stupid and I can't change it... Save and flip it if you want.. haha, sorry about that--

Well after its been sanded and sanded and sanded- Its time for SPRAY PAINT!!!!

Spray painting is fun :)

Spray Painting is much more fun then - Sanding, Bondoing, Resining, Peping, Hot Glueing!! PAINT MAKES IT LOOK TWICE AS GOOD!!!
I didn't sand it any more.. it really does make it look amazing ( simply add paint! )

After you paint the pink- tape it up and paint the white- After you paint pink and white- Tape both of them up and paint the silver! ( spray paint can be expensive 15 bucks for 3 colors...more if you get the really good paint)

I did touch it up with a paint brush and black paint. The last thing you must figure out is the visor

*I'm having a horrible time with Mark 5 visor right now- IF ANYONE HAS ANY HINTS please tell, haha

Anyways- the pink ranger visor was made from scratch! I went to Hobby Lobby and bought a 3x3 square clear, thin, plastic board. ( i have no clue what its used for... ) After I got it- I reprinted the shape of the pep file of the visor.

I took the reprinted paper visor piece and traced it onto the clear plastic sheet. ( used the dremel to cut it out )

I got a perfect visor!! * I also left alittle bit around the visor because I glued it to it. ( I used Epoxy glue )
--Epoxy Glue drys alot slower then I wanted- but it worked.

---I also bought DARK window tint used for cars. I put a piece on the clear plastic - WORKED AMAZING!!

THIS IS THE RESULT!! A PINK RANGER HELMET- THANKS TO 405th for all the help and useful TIPS!!

wow nice build man like it. try to enlarge the pics cus i wanna see that beaut up close.

just got a question wat method did u use to secure the halves together?

Will do- Just figured out how to use photobucket.. still working with it, and I used a very small door hinge, but covered it with a leather material. ( cause it would catch hair ) so now thats fixed :)

And I put 2 small gold lock snaps on each side ... so it helps hold together more.

This was a test for my next project --- master chief helmet, I'm glad this one turned out so good!! I'm working on master chief now :)

I'll try to post closer up pictures!!

Im not crazy about Power Ranger helmets but you really did a nice job on yours, it kinda makes me want to build one, please post up a bigger pic so we can see it better

Well... I have tried to resize and rotate some using Paint- then transfering them into photobucket... still brings up the original picture... very strange ( even if i edit them in photobucket and save the changes to the original ... the 405th is still showing the original, and photobucket is showing the changed... )

I took these pictures with my phone ( so sadly bad images ) I'll take more of the finished product later on with a nice camera!

Bear with me here =\

Power rangers aren't my thing either, but it does help you with Skillz, trying to sand a perfect smooth surface into a nice round shape is harder then it seems... takes lots of time and this is great 1st project to test and work with :)

i'll post pictures of master chief helmet in another thread- That one will be more exciting to watch in progress for 405th.comers!! =D

Where can I get this file?

My 3 year old is nuts for the pink ranger and I would love to make it for her. How could I get this file?
