Okidoke,
So let me start off my explaining the reference issue. It wasn't the quality of the image I was going by that threw me off. It was the fact that upon reviewing the new material, I discovered that the old reference image was NOT a straight-on side shot of the helmet. It was slightly twisted toward the front of the helmet, which made the positioning of the ears wrong, and thus the entire front of the helmet was off. See below.
The new model went together rather quickly. Instead of going for a medium-high def model, I just went with medium definition to save time. Nothing really new to note, though, other than it's done and ready for pepakura.
And here is just a preview of what it looks like in Pepakura Designer. It looks like some of the seams didn't transfer correctly, so there are some open edges throughout the model. I'm not pepping it (at least not yet), but I figured I'd open the file in Designer to see what it looks like.
Like I said before, I don't have the capability to save files in Pepakura Designer yet, so I can't pep it myself and release the file. However, I have the file in .3Ds file format and in .3dm format (created in Rhino3D) for anyone who wants to give it a try. I'm hoping to see a "smoothed" version released if at all possible. If you request the file, I must ask that you insert my name ("David Reimer, aka torsoboy" would be preferred) into the file in both the file properties and on the paper-side of the screen. Email me at
davre.gamob@gmail.com if you want to pep it, and I will email it back to you.
