Day 9





I don't like it when my helmets give me lip



Today I cut out the visor section and secured anchors for it. I will be using this thread to help guide me in the installation of my visor. I used epoxy putty to mount the pegs and I am glad I'm done with the stuff! It works great but it's really sticky and smells of a mix between burnt rubber and port-a-potty. This visors already given me quite a hassle already, If any of you plan on doing this I warn you that this is the hardest part!

Today I finally got the visor in! That was incredibly difficult and took me several hours of fighting with my visor to get it into the helmet. I also used more epoxy putty around the edge to give the helmet the perfect fit around the visor. While cutting the it out my Dremel jumped, resulting then in the nice cut on my finger. Tomorrow I'll put in the padding and the final details!

day 11:

gosh things have gotten quiet around here...



Although I said I would put in the padding AND do the final detailing. Today I only put in the padding because I was tired and I had other things to do for once! I know the helmet is the right size but I still had to stuff an awful lot of foam in this thing to make it fit my head. And Jico, The cut isn't deep enough for stiches but it was deep enough to bleed all over the place! And no, I don't plan on backlighting the visor. The interior of the helmet has to remain dark for the mirror effect of the visor to work. Lights on the inside or shining a bright light into it makes the visor look entirely translucent. I'd like to remain the faceless soldier .

The view isn't bad but the bottom spokes of the visor are useless because you cant see out of them.




I couldn't read what the label said in the pep file so I used my imagination and guessed what it might have said.

Finished the helmet! Mostly, Later on I'll put fans in it so that it's not so stuffy as well as some headphones so I can jam out! Do any of you think I'm missing anything? Next I'll work on the armor itself as well as the jump jets!

Day 13:





Today I cut out all the foam armor pieces, glued them together, and added some detailing. Tomorrow I'll Paint all the parts. Sorry for the lateness of todays post, I was wrapped up as you may tell . Thanks for the comment Clothar! Sometimes I feel like I'm necro-posting on my own thread! Also, the 360 release of Titanfall has been delayed until April 8th, Thus giving me more time to work! Amen! after painting the armor tomorrow I think Ill take a day off.

I was thinking about maybe making one out of cardboard if I find myself bored and if I find A good obj model. But, its unlikely.

Basecoat of white


Painted, no aesthetic screws in yet.


Here's my "under suit" drama. I sewed the vest together myself and those things on my legs are what I'm going to mount the knee plates on


The grey hoodie I have underneath has little flecks of brown giving it a dirtied worn look that is ideal.


Finished with the legs!

Sorry I haven't posted anything in awhile, I decided to take some needed time off. I still got a bit done. I need to finish up the shoulders, the front and back plates, Start and finish the jump jets. and get some fans in my helmet. then I'd say I'm pretty much done. After that I'll probably mingle with some details if I have the time.

Hey everyone! I'm back! I'm so sorry for not posting anything in awhile, I was caught up in a bunch of stuff. Also If I work non-stop for too long I burn myself out and just drop everything and veg out. Well, I'm pretty much done with the armor! The chest and back plates are mounted to the vest I made, It's a bit tricky to get on and off but it can be done. I want to add some straps for sure and If I find the time I want to add a few more details so that the torso doesn't look so empty and bland. Now all I really need to do Is the jump jets. After that it's all just minor details and such. I'm getting close! thanks for all the support everyone!
