Regiment membership - please all read

FANGS

Commanding Officer
Community Staff
Division Staff
I'm noticing a great deal of people who qualify to be part of a Regiment (ie: Type B Membership with 50 posts and 90 days) but have not yet been added.

Please take a moment to let us know here if you wish to be added and we'll get that taken care of for you.

So, what is a Regiment?

The 405th is more than an online community, we also work to connect Halo cosplayers in Real Life through our local “Regiments” which allow members to meet other people in their area who share their passions. Basically, a Regiment is a locally organized chapter of the wider 405th. The local Regiments are designed to allow people to meet, get to know, and work with other Halo Cosplayers in their area. These local Regiments provide a sense of Identity and Community to members and give them a space to call their own.

Additionally, the 405th participates in many events around the globe, from Game Releases, Conventions, and even Minor League Baseball games, and these Local Regiments allow us to professionally organize these events, look out for our members in attendance at these events, and put forward the best face for both the 405th and the Halo Franchise as a whole.

What does it take to join a regiment?

Membership in a regiment is an entirely voluntary process. The Armory (The New File Archive) and all sections of the Forum, except for the local regiment sections, are open to any Registered Forum Member. You do not need to join a Regiment to download files, post in the costume creation sections, or show off your build.

However, if a member decides to take the next step and join a regiment and get more involved with local fellow 405th members, they must first make sure that their account is more than 90 days old and that they have over 50 posts. This demonstrates that the member is committed to actively participating with the 405th Organization. Once a member has 50 posts on an account that is over 90 days old, they then post in this thread and request to be added to their local Regiment.

The Regimental Membership Officer, or RMO, for that Regiment is responsible for checking this thread and confirming that the member meets the requirements and belongs in their Regiment. At that time the local RMO will then give the go ahead in a special thread in the Regimental Command Staff Section for the member to be added to the Regiment.

How do you know which Regiment is your local regiment?

The current Regiments are:
Australia – Covering Australia
Canadian – Covering Canada
Colonial – Covering Connecticut, Delaware, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Vermont
European – Covering Europe including the British Isles and ending at the Russian border.
Midwest -Covering Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, Ohio, South Dakota, and Wisconsin
Mountain – Covering Colorado, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, Utah and Wyoming.
New Zealand – Covering New Zealand
Pacific – Covering California, Oregon, Washington, Alaska and Hawaii
Southern – Covering Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia, and West Virginia.
Southwest – Covering Arizona, New Mexico, Oklahoma, and Texas.
Regimiento de Mexico: Mexico, Central America and South America - (Cubriendo México, América Central y América del sur)
Singapore - Covering Singapore

(Additional, 4-2-2017)
I posted in this thread, but I am still not in a Regiment. What do I do?

If you have not heard back from your Local RMO after posting on this thread, your first step should be to contact them. If you do not hear back from your local RMO, the next step should be to contact your local RCO. If your local RCO does not respond to you, then you should bring it to the attention of Division Staff Member, such as FANGS or Cadet and we will look into the issue.

Do understand that all Division and Regimental Officers are only volunteers doing this in their free time, and real life issues may distract them and keep them away from the Forum from time to time.

PerniciousDuke informed me that I qualify for Regiment status! I'm in Michigan can I be added to the Midwest Regiment?
Unfortunately PerniciousDuke was incorrect when he told you that. The requirements for Regimental Membership are an account that is at least 90 days old and has over 50 posts. Although you have over 50 posts, your account is only 42 days old. You will be eligible for Regimental Membership on Friday September 28th.

Oh okay, that's good to know. I'm glad I know the exact date now! ;)

Awww my bad mumgoot ! I read your start date as June 2017.

But the next couple months will go by fast. Sorry bout that.

That's cool! Thanks for telling me even if you got it wrong!:p This year's flying by, so yeah, no big deal.

It's really great to see that you're eager to get involved, though. Definitely a great example of the "community" portion of the 405th!

toxicdeathnight - I know that you were spoken to privately about this situation and under normal circumstances, it would be left at that. However, given what this is, I need to make a public comment. This isn't to call you out but rather to make sure that people know that this is NOT the way to get admittance to a Regiment. Otherwise we'll have everyone in here dragging up old posts simply to gain entrance.

Folks, the 50 posts and 90 days isn't a punishment or a hurdle or even a test to see how you can get around it. It is so that people make an investment in being part of this forum before we give them further access. I know that for some it seems daunting, and it just seems like an unnecessary step in where you want to be, but it is a very important part of being in this community. And hopefully by the time you've reached your 50 posts and 90 days you're so comfortable with posting here that you continue to be a positive contributing member to the forum. A community, especially an online one, is nothing without the contributions of the members. This rule is set up to foster that. So please, use it as an opportunity to get to know the community. It will happen before you know it without needing to force the issue.

Thanks for this note FANGS, I'll get Fireteam Off the Rails to go sort out the Off Topic section.

GUYS! It's time for more poetry and memes!

I know I'm well over the 90 days but well under the 50 posts right now :( Is there a function by which someone under the posts can still be added to a regiment? If so, may I be added to Southern? If not, I understand, and will try to drive the posts up; I just don't get many chances to hop on in my day-to-day

Richard if you can lets work on that post count. I want to get you added but we need to get those posts up. I see you registered with us back in 2016. just try to engage in the conversation some. Would love to know more about that uniform build of yours!

If I may hop onto this, randomly complimenting other people's work is a great way to do it, providing you don't necro-post. There's so many cool creations around here, you don't even have to force the sincerity! :p By the way, the UNSC uniform in your profile pic is really cool! See? Easy.

(Sorry for double post, but it wasn't showing who I was quoting, maybe it's on my end:confused:confused) Still doesn't seem to show. I'm replying to PillarofAutumns and AsgardianHammers conversation.

Okay! I'm currently trying to sort out some patterning matters for it, specifically whether or not I can alter the Roddenberry.com Monster Maroon jacket pattern (at least the back of that jacket) for use, to make my life easier, but I'm hoping to pick up materials soon.
