UPDATE: I have done a test wiring of the EL inverters with the pulsing board. It's nice

yes.... I made a video of it too. But I have to warn you before you go look at it that my camea doesn't really do low-light vids very well. I shot the video in total darkness to try to get the best contrast.... but it still looks MUCH darker than it looks like in person. The light that diffuses through the whole blade doesn't even show on my camera. So be advised of that...

It looks much more like this in person:

Without further adieu, heres the pulsing vid; http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u7x-fmHvCvU

Theres a little bit of a flicker to it... but I think that might be as good as it gets. I don't think EL wire is even intended to dim... it's usually either on or off .

What would make that look cool would be if you had one EL wire that stayed on and another that pulsed. I think then you might get the total effect you are looking for... (unless the sword actually stays pretty well lit, since I can't tell from the camera probs).

I might try a few things yet, this was just the first test. I might be able to get that same effect you described without running more EL wire. I'll be tinkering with this tonight.

That is a beautiful sword. And the pulsing glow is quite nice. I know you are going to be backed up on these for awhile but could you PM with a price?

Holy Wow.

Yeah, that looks great. Maybe if you had two pulsating wires, pulsating in opposite times. WOW. Great job!!

It does dim all the way to off, but I am planning to rearrange the wiring to stop that from happning, so it just dims by about 1/2, and gets brighter.

I was just overly excited to see it pulse for the first time.

Well, as I suspected was able to get that effect without adding more EL wire, although I now have to find away to fit another inverter and power source into the handle. I will be able to do this, though it means using some smaller, more powerful batteries

It now pulses smoothly with no flickeing and does not dim all the way off. It is also considerably brighter.

I'll try to get some more vids up soon.

Damn, I really wanted to show this off to everybody on the day of the H3 beta.. but oh well, I'd rather not rush it and screw things up in the process.

It looks like it's getting too late for me to unveil tonight, the damn humidity here is keeping my paint from drying. I've been running fans on everything to try to get the first side coat to dry and it's been like 3 hrs. So the likelyhood of getting the other sides done and dry enough to put it all together is not looking so good at this point.

So I guess that means that I'll have to pry myself away from the beta for a little bit tomorrow night to put it all back together for my promotional shots.

Anywho, keep your eyes peeled tomorrow evening for this then.

Until then, my appologies, :$ops:

Thanks Adam, I'll take you up on that for sure.

Looks like Bungie decided to give me some more time to work on this.

Should ready just be a few hours after I get home from work today.
