Stilts for Spartan?

I'm sure many of you have seen it and maybe been it, but (being 5'8" myself) if I were to make a suit for my height, I feel I would be loose a part of the character because I am VERY much shorter than the Chief. I've seen plenty of Elite threads for the stilt legs and they've seem to get them down to a science, but I've never seen a stilt rig to boost someone while they still look like they are standing and walking like a regular human.

Just putting the idea out there to see what the community has to offer.

I also have an idea myself that I'll put up once I've sketched it out.

Here's a video for some visual reference (skip to 8:30). I'd love to see how they did it.

Also I'll throw in these Amazon items cause they have me wondering :/

Those guys are pretty tall, but there is a chance that they were hired by some company just to dress up like that and those guys probably are really that tall. I was paying attention to the knees and everything and the body looks proportionate, so I don't think there are any stilts involved for those spartan suits. :p

And whether they were hired or not and were just some fans that wanted to dress up, again, they are probably tall enough to look the part. :p

Honestly, it doesn't matter that much. When people see your costume, they'll think it's cool regardless of your height. I've seen some pretty short people dressing up as stormtroopers or spartans and it never looked weird to me. I wouldn't overthink it, just be you, and we will think you're cool regardless!

I agree with Halogoddess. These guys are simply this tall, their knees and shoulders and so on all bend at the right place, there are no stilts or tricks in the suits. You can also check this video:

On a related note, does anybody know who made these suits? They look quite cool! Everything is pretty close to the Legacy effects stuff, but I've never seen them anywhere else.

There are some lifts in the boots, probably ~3"
But never the less... those are some big guys. I would guess around 6,6" or so. 6,8" ~ 6,9" with the lifts.
Impressive!

Don't bother with stilts, it would just look wrong.

You can gain a few inches by using Lift boots, elevator shoes, or platforms. Or just by putting a couple insoles in your boots

ya i agree with Katsu, and if you are concerned about it be a spartan two from reach,
becuse Emile is only 5,6'' so if you are short like me thats your best bet.

Yeah I suppose combat boots give you a boost already. And I know I will be adding rubber soles to the bottom of my boots for durability to I could add a bit extra there. Probably make me about 6" or so

if i'v learnt anything from the rest of the people here that have built full suits, it's that it's pretty hard, and uncomfortable, to be walking around in a full suit all day. you probably shouldn't over complicate things by adding a pair of stilts into the mix unless you really feel the need to do so. i would just build the suit to your own body scale and add a couple of inches to the soles of the boots. only basketball players and former Wookies are really tall enough to pass as the real thing, even at 6'2" barefoot i'm still too short to be one, so you really shouldn't worry that you'll be short for a spartan.

i really dont think there is need for stilts in a suit like that, mobility is pretty limited to begin with... and youd just look way out of proportion...you may just have to face it your gona be small in the suit...im 4 foot 10, im half the cheifs size, its not gona stop me from pretending that im 7 or 8 feet tall.

I'm 5'8'' I didn't have any trouble with my height when at Youmacon. People love'd it just the way I was. As for the stilts wrong type for some thing like this any ways, every thing would be way out of whack when you scaled it. If you really have to.... just go with the lifts, or soles.

I'm 5' 8" myself, and I'm not even gonna try to look taller for my Armor. Think of it like this; There's a reason Jorge-052 is so much taller than the rest of Noble Team. He's taller because He's a SPARTAN-II whereas the rest of Noble are SPARTAN-IIIs. The Spartan height issue is actually addressed in Halo Glasslands (that's the second time I've referenced Glasslands when trying to explain issues in the Halo universe) when Dr. Halsey is comparing the two batches of Spartans inside the Shield World formerly known as Onyx. If you're under 6'8", consider yourself a SPARTAN-III (Unless you're a Red Vs. Blue Character, who are a fiction in and of themselves), and if your Taller than 6'8" You're SPARTAN-II sized.
