STL to Pepakura help

So I have stl files for a suit, but there are some parts I'd like to make in foam instead of printing so they'll be more flexible. I've tried the unfold option in Armorsmith, but it made the pep file have about half a million faces to render and the final result was not it lol. Anyone have any experience or ideas on how to do this? Thanks!

As someone who unfolds complex parts often; can you please explain why you're trying to unfold something in Armorsmith, especially when they have a lot of faces? High-poly models can be a pain to unfold because of the polygon count. The program Armorsmith isn't really optimal for unfolding, and you may be better off simplifying the mesh and sending it to the program Pepakura Designer to unfold.
