So I damaged, painted and added some stuff. I hope this gives you guys a good size comparison.
I just got some better leather strips so the next update should be the "wee" finish. I'm thinking of calling it either "The Wee Nutcracker" or "Foe Hammer". Bless that poor pelican pilot in Halo CE.
Here is a job I got from a friend. I present the Soul Reaver WIP
I got photoshop for Christmas and by bro showed me how to go from sketching in pencil to going digital!
And now work on the Halo 4 scatter shot
It measures 27in long and 7.5in tall. I scaled it to my size, not a spartan.....Let's be honest if I scale my armor for them I'll look like a kid wearing my Dad's trench coat. Still not positive if I shouldn't mess with the scale a bit more....but for a first try, I'm pleased.
Well, I hate posting back to back....but I have an update. So =p
I'll be cutting the 1in pieces in half to go on either side of the center 2in piece. I think I'm going to be able to get 5-6 layers of detail with the ideas I have planned. Oh and EL wire. Yes this bad bow is gonna light up!!!
On a side note, I have started a Facebook page for all my work. Check it out and give it a like!
It's really easy to work with the 1inch foam. But the 2in is just a pain in the butt. Using a pen knife and a metal ruler is all you need. But cutting at 90deg angles is really hard. Thank you for the support!
I'm not trying to 1up DFL Trooper. He's the guy who got me started. I'm just adding my personal artistic flare. Thanks for the ego boost though. It really means alot.
UPDATE!!!!!
After a few blisters and cries of consternation here is what I completed tonight:
This is the guy I made the hammer for
And now I'm regretting it......LoL!
His daughter is scared of the hammer...
So he shows her it's fake at full speed.....
Then followed through.....
Here is the Scatter shot:
And please don't forget to check out my Facebook Props page and LIKE/SHARE it please!! You can find all the pics a bit easier than rifling through threads.
Thanks alot!! It's a trade secret....um...This is the trade.....The answer is a hot knife! Using different tips allows for all sorts of detail. But be careful. The knife itself can radiate heat that can do damage to the piece, so hold it wisely. That and you can burn the ever luv'n heck out of yourself. I hope that helps
UPDATE:
The crumby part is I'm going to have to slow down on this build because I need to know how I'm going to install the EL wire and battery box.....I still need to hack this apart just in case. Damn you pony express from China!!!
And I did some work on the Soul Reaver, just not enough to update yet. Until tomorrow 405th, stay classy!
Epic foam work!
Subbing this thread. Keep 'em coming. I'll be checking out toy FB as well. I've done some foam work myself. Never used a hot knife though.
I'd love to see a tut on that scatter gun. (like DFTs magnum tut on YouTube) hint, hint
