Surprise Eaglestrike Build

Big update time!

We're getting even closer to C2, but that just means that the suit is even closer to being done. As it stands, I wanna say we're about 90% of the way there. All but three of the pieces are ready for straps, and two of those three just need weathering.

Speaking of weathering, I spend most of last weekend and all day today getting the majority of my pieces weathered. Same process as with my Mark V build. First you hit the pieces with a simple wash of watered-down black paint....

Then, you go around the edges with some metallic silver drybrushing for that worn edge look....

And just like that, we're almost done.

The only thing left now that needs a dedicated amount of effort towards it are the pieces for the torso. The chest plate is ready for weathering, and you can see it behind my helmet in the above two helmet pics. The jetpack is in a similar state, with the core being done and the tubes awaiting weathering as well. The one part that's missing out is the backplate, which is in a bit of a rough state due to how it was assembled plus a good amount of sanding that still has to be done. However, work has been done on it and I've got a good amount of time coming up this week to get that finished.

By the way, massive shoutout to SamuelHan for printing the jetpack pieces, they came out amazing and I'm so glad to have them for this suit. This is an older picture from before the parts were painted, but it's so awesome to see it all coming together like this.

And while we're doing shoutouts, special thanks to Negativecacti for the green sidekick pistol you can see in some of those pictures. He's been itching to part ways with it for a bit, and I picked it up at a recent event we were at. I'm aiming to repaint it to match this suit, but that's an optional extended goal that can wait a bit longer.

Next up, strapping. Aiming to at least get it started on Sunday, and I have a couple tricks in mind to get things to stay in position and avoid the pitfalls I had on Mark V. Almost there, folks!

Dude the weathering looks so amazing!!! Nice job on figuring out the TPU, you will be the most comfortable Spartan at the event lol

Test fit time!

So, so close to being done. Gotta figure out some parts on the thighs, connect the torso plates together and to the shoulders, and then that's it. I'll post further test fits as they happen, and with any luck I'll be done by this time next week.
