Hey again :)

I tried to PM but they're still switched off heh.

Could you possibly give some advice regarding the glassing & hardening of the backpack? I'm trying to decide how best to do my one :)

In addition, any advice on the strapping would be good.

Cheers!

Blah I can't PM either, oh well.
My backpack took a lot of work to fix after what I did to it.. but meh.. for mine I had it in 3 seperate pieces and resined the inside of all of those pieces before assembling it. It sort of worked and sort of didnt. It was easier to get too when it was in multiple pieces, but it warped like I couldnt even believe.
Here is a picture of what it looked like after I forced it into place and connected the warped pieces.

Pretty nasty. the edges and the face of the front was doing the wave so to speak. You could probably avoid that whole entire mess by resining the outside first and then getting the inside with a well placed hole cut in the back side of the backpack (thats what i ended up doing..)
I had to put huge amounts of bondo on the outside to try and smooth it out, it only partly worked so i cut a hole in the back, bondoed the INSIDE as well, and just sanded my way right through the resin and paper into the inner bondo to flatten it out. Worked perfectly but .. yeah.. Don't do what i did =P

Moral of the story is you shouldn't worry about it too much. It appears anything can be fixed with time and bondo.

Well I'm more or less finished with the armor. I'm putting the finishing touches and weathering on it now, but mostly just figuring out how to properly attach everything for the long haul. Padding it is annoying.

My sister has been being ever so kind in helping me don the armor whenever I try it on and romp around, so I figured I'd give her a go in the armor. She was ecstatic lol. Here are some pics!

It pretty much just looks like me wearing the armor, but a little shorter XD

This back shot is actually pretty good, I hadn't seen what it looked like from behind before this - few things I'm going to fix but otherwise baller

Anyways, fun times. Going to be finishing it fully in the next few days - then taking it out for a real photoshoot. More pictures and video will come then. I'm pretty excited.

Current project: Figuring out how to attach the BELLY TUBES

As I said before, your sister is sexier then you... Hell, she is sexier then me too.

Chicks in armor rox hard. and I still love the flower behind the ear.

;)

WOW, this is... like, 1000x times cooler then anything I will EVER make I'm sure O_O...

still, I press on.. question, anyone have any tips on glueing these paper print outs right? do I glue the numbers RIGHT ontop of one another?

I am finished. Finally.
Well ok fine I have to add belly tubes, but I just didn't have enough time before this to find the right sized ones. Will add later.

Dragged my father out to the ruins of this old school in our area for a sort of photo shoot to display the finished armor. Here are a few of my favorite pics.
Enjoy~

Looking sharp! The paint and effects really look nice, especially that tabard. This is huge motivation to continue working on mine. Awesome work Djinn.

That build is sick! I literally just got into 40k last week and man I cant believe you have a real life version...amazing how accurate yours is. Just awesome...

Coot

I really love this build!! I dont know a thing about 40k but I love th armor regardless!! Great work on it. Is the suit ni the video finished now or is there something else you were planning on doing to it?

Nice video love the music, are you planning to do a helmet and if you are what kind of helmet do you plan to use?

Thank you for uploading the Pep files! i recently decided to start my own space marine suit, so this is very helpful.

your armor looks awesome. how do you have it attach to... whatever it is your wearing under it?

No helmet planned currently. If I was to do one it would be a slightly modified Aegis pattern helm (something more like the emperors Champion models helmet). I will be putting SOMETHING on my face.. maybe a cybernetic eye or rebreather. I haven't decided yet. (also I'm taking a little break from it =P The nearest convention is late November)
If I do a helmet, I'll have to make a modeler friend of mine get one going in pepakura viewer, since the helm I want (to my knowledge) has no pep files made for it yet.

The armor is attached mostly by circular snaps and straps with clips.

Thanks for the kind words everyone! Heres a stupid picture I took for fun.
