Bmw's German right? European car's are legendary, no offence, but almost every car in the us does what? 8mpg? V8 engine's? And the handle like a bull on steroids. No offence but ive never see an american car that I like. ...Well apart from the Ford Mustang GT.

I'm guessing you don't really know much about american cars and you probably said that because someone else told you that?!?
My Cutlass (305 v8), gets over 20mpg- not 8-, now my Impala Station wagon...
Now on this one, I'll have to say that it does not get 20mpg since its pretty much a really heavy corvette (350 v8) but its still well above 8mpg
If you have enough torque to get up to speed quickly, and a decent balance of overdrive to maintain speed at lower rpms, you'd have to be a lead foot in order to get low mpg. The cutlass drives at 30-32mph without me touching the gas pedal.
ill agree with chris about the american cars, my SS gets like 27 or so MPG on the highway and not much less around town, and hit handles like a beast, especially with the new BFG G Force tires i put on it... and a mustang GT isnt a good handling car by any means, especially the new ones... also, i believe BMW stands for Bovarian Motor Works and they are in fact german...
My dad's camry is listed by the EPA to only get 30mph highway, we've been getting 37-39mpg highway with speeds around 60-70mph. The tank lasted forever compared to our other cars. Now he has a scion xB and gets 35+ with half highway and half city driving everyday. It's never gone on pure highway driving for an entire day, so we dont know for sure what's the average of what it gets on the road traveling all day. But 35 for in city and highway mix driving is impressive.
