Looking great so far, as to making the engravings you could indent it or imprint it using a knife of some sort..

That's a good idea with the feet, I'm pretty excited to see your finished pictures.
Thanks. To be honest, I'm surprised they're holding up as well as they are. I hope to get them done, if not this weekend, then the next.

Yeah, once I get it resin'd and fiberglass'd, then bondo'd, I'll spend a lot of time making sure the details are just right.

Keep comments coming, plz. I'm rather happy about how they turned out. D;

Looks great Drakku!

All I think I can add is that the pepped helmet looks a little flimsy, or is that just me? Id try to fix that before resining to avoid ripples.
Or maybe its just I havent seen any actual pep product in a long time.

And it seems pretty firm to me, it moves a bit, but not any more so than the other pepped pieces, if you know what I mean. It's a bit warped, but I'm planning on correcting it when I resin it.

Aaaand, I've officially printed out the cheeks and arms, I'll hopefully get those pep'd tonight, as they're rather simple. I'll upload pics before I go to bed if I get 'em done. Props out to rundown for making them. :D

Edit:

Used the plates from rundown's pep and matched them with the shoulder/hand piece.
They twist around 'cuz my arm cast twists. But yeah, I think they look pretty good.
I'll edit again with Elite anatomy drawn in.

very nice, looks like ya got a good start, and all of what ya got looks great.

one thing i would personally do tho, on the feet, add some rubber or something on the bottom of the wood, this would give you a weird texture on the bottom, but more importantly, it would give you traction on smooth floors like concrete and hard wood floors. i would do this personally because ( i dont know what kinda floors you will be walking on) being that tall and having to worry about balance and all that, the last thing you would want is to hit a slick spot and go crashing to the ground, for obvious reasons

also, ideas for exercise, i would suggest that you do wall-sits ( if ya dont know what a wall-sit is, it is where you sit against a wall, back straight and against the wall, legs parallel to the ground with your hands anywhere away from your thighs, behind you head is a good spot to put them) do wall-sits for as long as you can hold them, do them a few times a day, trying to get a longer time every time, this will help build stamina in your thighs to support walking in a semi-crouched state for long periods of time

another exercise would be regular squats, they would help build your leg muscles as a whole and keep your legs in shape

finally, the last exercise i would suggest is calf raises, they will build your calves :rolleyes they, like the squats will help ya with the over all walking in your armor

if anyone has any corrections the the exercises feel free to correct me

hope this helped

have any questions feel free to PM me

Oh yes, that's the thing I keep forgetting to mention. I am planning on getting more traction and squish-room, 'cuz I definitely don't feel like slipping. Hah. Thanks, though.
Actually, after I recorded that video, I stepped weird and lost my balance. I caught myself, but it was a close one. Gah.
And thanks a ton for the exercise suggestions! My legs were already a bit sore after the first time I went on 'em. Haha. I'm going to die at the con.

Aaand, here's my AWESOME doodling on top of an image.

Woo. Woohoo. Yeah. Such skill.

I love your improvision on the feet. Great thinking and design. Have fun at Dave's!
:D Why thank you. Hopefully they'll be able to hold up.
And I'm so excited about the gathering going on at Dave's, I wish more people were able to go, though.
I see you live in Indiana.. any chance you're going to Gen Con in August? That's when I'm test-driving this bad boy.

I have registered but not picked a package yet. I need to figure up and see if I have my son on one of those days.

Love to see you in the outfit there.

Lol, yeah, I guess they'd be boots or something.
And sure, that sounds fun. Just keep me posted. I'll definitely have it done by August, but I'm shooting for June to have it completed, so as long as I'm not drowning in work, I'm up for some photo ops. :D

Woo, yeah, I just registered the other day and beat hordes of nerds to register for the three True Dungeon events this morning.. blegh.. !
But yeah, we should get something organized. I already know we're (me and my boyfriend) meeting up with {Cortana and her boyfriend for some Halo cosplaying, I'm sure the more the merrier.
When it's closer to the event, I'll try to get a topic up. :D

Thanks for all the compliments and the suggestions, everyone!
As far as strength training goes, I swam a few laps during my breaks at work and worked out for an hour or so on my Wii Fit doing lunges and the like. My legs are KILLING ME this morning, so I know it's working! Haha.
I'm hoping, if I make headway on my Drawing II and New Media homeworks today, I'll start building up the skeleton for the hands.

Also: I'm starting to think I won't have time to do a detailed energy sword to have with me, too much vacuum-forming and LED wiring for my brain to want to do after this semester. Do you guys think I should make the hilt and just wear it on my thigh (with magnets, WOO), or attempt to make a different weapon out of pep?
I'm also considering having a few Plasma grenades around my hip. Throw in some dry ice and a blue LED so they mist slightly and glow blue. Ooh-la-la!
Suggestions?

Dry ice + the enclosed nature of plasma grenade = EPIC NO.

Of course, if you still want to do it after watching that, have fun in the hospital. I'd suggest getting some sort of controller for the LEDs to fade in and out, so it looks like it pulses. The feet look really good, keep up the good work!

Way to go Drakku, looking good.
I was thinking pep an energy sword real quick but you have tons to do alreay. A non energized sword on the hip would be fine. All you need to do is the handle, so it shoudl go quickly.
Looking forward to seeing your armour resined and painted!
Did you already do the head or are you buying one premade?

THAT WAS AWESOME!
:p But I wasn't planning on having it sealed inside with no way to escape, don't worry.
I was thinking small little chunks, with the grenade having artfully concealed fishnet grating of some sort to allow the gas to escape.

Thanks! If I manage to get the armor done quickly (which I don't foresee it taking very long to resin and fiberglass, as the pieces are very simple (save for the helmet, and maybe the back/chest, haha)), then I may attempt to do a full sword. But if not, I'm definitely at least doing a handle.
I have the head done, or at least, the very inside bit done. There's a couple links to pics of it on the first page, but I'll post it here again for all to see:
n680884847_2306098_1236503.jpg

That's the bare bones of it. I'm going to attach the jaw supports, the rigging, the neck support, etc, to this, and then cover it all in extra padding and whatever I'm eventually making the skin with.
The neck also won't be that long, I was compensating for not knowing what the final product's length would be. And ignore where I drew the eye, that was just for reference when I was building up the forehead.
It's going to get EXTREMELY hot in there, so I'll be putting fans inside the body supports to cool me off. And hey, if people are close enough to its mouth, they'll think it's breathing on them. :D

I'm planning on it being an extension of my own head in the sense that when I look up, it looks up, I look right, it looks right, etc. I also plan on putting a small patch of fishnet at the base of the neck to be my look-through point. It shouldn't be very noticeable, as I've used this material before for my eyeholes on a different costume.

Your one of the few ones that commit to actually doing the elite armor well done
Keep us updated hope you get it done and good luck

I've never realized just how much the Arbiter's head looks like a squid until now. :D

Nice job with everything Drakku. Keep up the good work!

And about your Energy Sword wishes.... let's just say somebody may be working on that as we speak.... :cautious:
