A Quick Skirmisher Question

I was rooting through my reference images to print out some of Skirmishers before I head down to work on stuff perhaps today, and I noticed something that stood out to me as odd.

On all of my reference images of their back are rather… limited… I have two of the figures on hand but neither of them have any sort of little… jet packy lighty spot… However I found a spectacular image of one leaping up for a good bottom view of the jaw and such; however on the back is a large flare of light.

Despite the fact I am configuring a Skirmisher costume, I will admit I haven't actually played Halo Reach yet. My mom and stepdad have however, which I find… weirdly ironic… so I don't know if Skirmishers regularly use such a device and I am being ignorant hah.

Nonetheless I was curious if you all could give me a bit of input real fast so I can build the back of the costume properly? I need to know if I have to set it up for LED's back there, or if that image just has some weird light glare on it on the armor from a fired weapon or something.

I always thought they could jump crazy like without the use of additional aid.

Thank you for your time! And if you are curious about the costume it can be found here-

I think it is just a reflection of the sun. I might be wrong though, i'll check in game Skirmishers and will get back to you asap!

Update: I don't think a Skirmisher Major as seen in the pic is wearing a jumpack of any kind. BUT i can only tell for other Skirmisher ranks. Not one of them has a jump pack so i figured the same goes for the Major. I can't prove by pics atm but i'll try to get some reference pics later this day if that's okay.

Oh don't go and burden yourself with research D: I don’t want to be a hassle for people. The skirmisher I plan to make is just the normal little grunt grey and black one. Nothing uber fancy or anything. Unless someone REALLY thinks I should make a different one, I just did not wish to cover the face I spent so much time working on with a helmet.

Their armor appears all so similar in generic shape, just re-colors of it or some slapped on armguards/helmets. I have been using all of them as sort of references for my costume.

I am finding however that locating a 3D model is near impossible to look at the back directly and see for myself if there is some pack thing. I am thusly slowly coming to terms with me having to possibly make my own pep from scratch in Maya. So if you do get an image of its back? Please give me a link? The only back image I have found is of a toy, and the detail is subpar to say the least.

Either way, thank you for your reply! and I appreciate the input. Anything little detail can help me make this the best costume I can.

Now if only I could learn to stand in place on the stilts…

This is no problem at all :) I actually made a pic which might help you.

I can send it via email too if you want.

BAHA Oh god that looks so… awkward… The little flailing leg…

I appreciate the screen so much. Is that from that pause replay thing where you can fly around the camera? I played with that in other versions, but never knew how to take screenshots at all.

Either way, as we both see there is no booster thing, and I am pleased to find this out, as I was not sure how I would make the lights bright enough back there to translate as such a thing without looking awkward.

-Tucks away picture into reference folders-

Yeah, it is the cinema mode where you can create free flying camera screenshots and clips. It's awesome. I like having this possibility a lot :)
