Thanks y'all!
As far as the Needle Rifle's mechanisms go, I have a really good idea of how they will work. If I manage to put my thoughts onto paper, then transpose that to a real working design, I should be good to go. The ultimate plan is to have each pull of the trigger recess the needles in series. Then, either it will "run out of ammo" (which requires a reload), or the user will reload before... either way, when the scope is lifted and the reload chamber is exposed, that motion will bring all of the needles to their most recessed position. After it has been reloaded, and as the cover is being closed, the needles will return to their fully extended position. I am really good with mechanical stuff like that, and my biggest challenge will be to get the electronic sensors to coincide with the actions... well, that and programming the RP to perform all the functions I want it to!
Anyways... back to the Rogue set. Like I mentioned before... I am barreling along with the chest. Today's challenge was to create the detail piece on the center part. Now that I have a few good reference pictures, I can see what was missing out of the pep file (Thanks Arcanine!!)
Here is a part of the reference picture. The bottom two arrows were my focus for today.
This picture shows the template I cut out of balsa.
Then, after that, I cut a thin border around the newly finished center piece.
Here I have layered an ample amount of bondo on it, then cut away the excess while it was in the rubbery stage.
Semi-finished from one angle
... and another
And here is the upper arrow on the reference picture. I did all this freehand... and will probably never do again after seeing how easy it is with a template!!!
'till next time!!!
