Cool. Thanks Samuray, I'll print one off & have a look.

I'm trying to decide on whether to redesign it now. I might make the elbow piece seperate so you can attach the bicep to it in a hinge type way. What do you think?

I was thinking about the same thing but wasn't going to make suggestions until I made it. If you decide to try anyway, I suggest to have the top of the forearm go straight from the inner tips ( from the elbow joining) and follow the line of the middle elbow curve, if you understand me. I'm thinking about fixing pivot points between the elbow openings & the top of the forearm.

Excuse the crudeness but I'm a bit rushed. The red is added in & the circle obviously the pivot point. I think it'll work for 2-piece forearms.

Yeah. That's what I was thinking about with the hinge. This isn't something you'd do until you have everything fiberglassed though.

Here's the file. It's the whole arm. Basically, I set it up so that you just scale the height to the length of your forearm from wrist to elbow. You might end up having to trim the forearm and bicep parts when it comes together so that you have mobility but that should be too hard. Also, the bicep won't go all the way up to your shoulder, I'm guessing. This is ok, though, because you'll have that huge shoulder pad on.

Hey man.

Awesome work on the Mk6 armour. I fell in love with those figures when I was a kid and would love to get around to building a suit of my own :)

You have a talent there, good work :)

I wish I could take all the credit but it's based on a 3D model I found online. I had to modify it a lot, but it's still pretty close to the original. I might also use a backpack from the same model. It has a cool connection piece between the chest piece and backpack that'd make it so that we might not need straps to hold it on. Maybe just a ton of strong magnets. I'll post some pics later to show what I mean.

What about the chest piece itself, will it be in two parts to connect? Or will it be as one, so you'd have to kind of squeeze through to fit inside.

And regarding 'credit', you're doing a massive part of this, and what you're doing is excellent, so I truly love you for it.

Good point. It'll make it easier to get in and out of. I'll look into it.

In my opinion, your height is not the most important factor in scaling the chest/shoulders, due to the break in the armor between the belt and the chest. Shoulder width is a better scale to look at. That said, you guys are looking good. I found this site recently because I am exploring the most effective way to build a full SM armor suit. Another site I found that has been quite useful is http://www.blackcrusade.co.uk/ There are no photos of the finished work, but if you look closely, the legs/feet have some very good ideas for attaching the armor. Another idea I have been working on is if you designed the boot correctly, you could gain a good 3-5" inches of height by adding a thicker sole/internal boot with a heel. For the average 6' tall guy such as myself, that puts me pretty close to actual SM height of 7'.

One more thing of note regarding the scale of space marines.. the 28mm figures are really out of proportion when it comes to converting to life size armor. I have read the a better choice is using Forgeworld's 120mm scale marine (example here: http://www.coolminiornot.com/forum/viewthread.php?tid=29899 ) as it is much closer to lifesize proportions.

Yeah I did take a look at that website, when I saw the feet I whoa'd. He put some serious work into that project. I wish he'd post some images. But yeah, I'd like to do something like that with the feet, as I am a modest 5"9.

The Buzz Lightyear costume at Disney is a one piece chest and the characters have no problem sliding this over the head to put on. I don't think you'll need to break it in two.

I have 10 years experience wearing costumes like this so feel free to ask for any tips or suggestions.

I looks cool, but what game is it from?

It's from a game called Warhammer 40k by Games Workshop

Here is an image for reference. When I first saw this costume I could see the direction in making a Marine.

Here is the costume break down:

Bottom Velcro Shoes in a Boot Shoe Shell.

Pants that incorporate the cod piece and upper legs

The lower legs velcro to the upper legs via an elastic strap behind the knee.

The Torso is held up with suspenders

The chest has a sudo back brace and shoulder harness to hold it in place.

The upper arms velcro to the Chest and have an arms sleeve with elastic on the end to loop over the thumb. (holds the sleeve down)

and the Lower arms and the gloves are attached to each other and are worn like gauntlets.

The head has a cowel velcroed aroud the bottom of the head and the end tucks neatly into the chest.

I would have never though of Buzz Lightyear as a reference for these guys in basic proportions and mounting.

That is a great find lol
