I became a veteran the other day, (I'm not quite sure how it happened, I think is was because I reached 100 posts) so I thought that if it was because I have reached 100 posts I should have actually earnt it. So I decided to make the Covenant Assassin Energy Dagger. For those of you who don't know what it is I only just found out about it the other day while on Halopedia. Here is a picture:
Apart from this picture I haven't found anything else on the dagger.
So I decided to create one because I thought that I would be the first one to make one and hopefully inspire others to make better versions.
I started off by making a template of what it looked like and decided that the dagger looks like it would be the same length as my forearm which is coincidentally the exact same size as an A4 sheet of paper. So if anyone would like the Microsoft Word Document with the template on it, I posted it online here: http://www.mediafire.com/?jimkqxyq4zg
Here is what it looks like:
This whole project cost me nothing because I already had all of the materials. It pretty much is just Perspex, cardboard and a bit of elastic. But it would be much better if someone were to create one and add in some LED's. This whole project only took me about 2 hours and is fairly easy to build if you have all of the right tools. So pretty much a Dremel is the only bit thing that is needed. (Please forgive the pictures. I don't have a camera so I took all of the photos with my phone.)
So anyways, I started off this project with a huge piece of 3mm perspex that was at our house when we moved in (We recently just moved interstate)
(The Iron Man helmet if my other project. It is moving quite slowly because I haven't been able to find a job since moving. I will hopefully finish it by the weekend.)
I have no ideas what it is for so I decided to use it. Also, if anyone can think of some other cool projects that I can do with it please tell my in the comments section. I wold love to know what else I could do with it.
I started off construction by drawing the A4 sheet of paper onto the perspex and cutting it out with my Dremel
I then cut out the dagger and used the grinding tool to smooth it a bit more and then used sandpaper to get a nice soft edge.
I then used a bit of mentholated spirits to clean it up and make it nicer.
After that it was pretty dark so I took it inside and started on the bit that connects it to the hand. I cut up a weetbix box and made a sort of solid cube then stapled 2 pieces of elastic to it. One piece to go around the wrist, then another to go around the hand.
I then began to paint it. It didn't take much. I used my own colour scheme of black, gold and gray. I also got a blue permanent marker and drew a bit blue dot on a tissue then rubbed it on the sides of the blade to give it a blue effect seeing as I didn't use any LED's.
And that is pretty much it. Here are a few more photos. A nice photo of it in my bath tub , and one of me wearing it so you can get a feel of how big it is.
And that is it. I hope you all like it. I know that it isn't exactly how it is in the game and I would like to make a much better and more accurate version in the future, hopefully with it attached to some sort of glove and with a few LED's. I would also like to see someone make a much better version too. This one that I made was pretty much just a mock up and a chance to improve my skills.
So yeah, I hope you liked it.
