OOOOOOKKKKKKK i think everyone has gotten off track a little here, he asked for help on how to make a halo weapon shoot paintballs, not if it was a good idea. if you have any ideas please give them out and help this guy . regardless of hs age or profession, ect. he shouldnt get bashed for being ambitious, and really its not all that ambitious. not all paintball guns run on gas like everyone is assuming, granted thats probably what he was stiving for. everyone please just take a chill pill, take a couple breathers, and if you have nothing to contribute, nothing to say (other than encouraging words), or warnings that have NOT been allready stated please do not respond to this again. i know im not a mod, but come on. leave the guy alone.

as for my two cents, try online paintball stores if your still looking to make your own design. if their anything like airsoft parts, they should be farly easy to assemble. if not, that pistol looks like an exellent base to start with. please remember to keep the orange tip on the gun, no matter how it makes it look.

-if its functional.........well thats reason enough-

OKAY ... just gotta ask it... How the heck is a paintball gun gonna burst into flames? explode from overpressure I can see, but bursting into flames? not meaning to sound rude but you don't sound like you have a clue what your talking about except for the following train of though:

Admin says no paintball=paintball is dangerous=danger often involves fire=Fire Bad.

now I don't paintball but I am a novice airsofter and have looked up how paintball markers work out of boredom. If you do paintball you would know there is NOTHING in one of those markers that can start a fire. and on this WE don't crap, check whose on your wagon before you pull out cause I for one go with the belief of try it, and live with your own consequences. now im not saying make a marker from scratch, because thats impossible for almost everyone who does not design paintball guns for a living and really, really rock hard stupid. but try to make a shell for an existing gun mr. O.P. have fun doing something the rest of this community seems to be Xenophobicly afraid of. and pony, pet peeve or not, there is no case where being a complete and utter ass will help. I'm not saying the gist of what your saying is wrong, but I only know KIDS to think putting someone down because you hate what they are saying is okay. you could have explained in a single, well though out and kind post that its basically impossible to make your own paintball marker and a better method is to put a marker in a shell to make it look to be a different gun

I can say that I am a Novice, because I only trained paintball a few times, but played it alot for fun. If you want to make a paintball gun from scratch, what gas is driving the ball out of the gun? I mainly use CO2, then you need to store that somewhere, like in a small metallic tube. Hey wait, he said he will do it from scratch, that means you will have to weld your own metallic tube to fill in the gas. Oh, and what happends if you make your own from schematics from the internet, you fill it and it doesnt hold when its full? Overpressure and you will have flying metallic pieces over your face. Even though this is the "worst senario", you could have bought the tube, but have made a too weak weapon, and have overpressuare where you put your tube on your scratch build weapon, but that wouldnt be too good either.

I am not against putting a "real" paintball gun inside a weapon from the beginning, on the countrary, that is pretty cool. I never said that wont work though, what I said was that WE dont think people are capable of making their own safety equipment. My post was clearing up what Pony and Kenster was talking about, and since we already solved it, it was pretty unneccessary to post that Pony is an utterass?

We havent used any harsch words, just critized replies people have made.

//Tahu

Edit: Where the heck to I say I hate this idea? I am sorry if I critised making your own paintball weapon is a bad idea, but come on, where do people get all their "hating" from? Defending a person from making his own weapon on a prop forum. If you go to the armor tutorial forum, there is a post with a guy taking his finished build helmet to try to shoot a paintball at it. He put it pretty far away, shoot just a small amount of shoots at a far distance, and going back, its cracks all over it, it broke.

And yeah, I know it wont set of a minor fire. It was pretty late when I wrote that post, but what I meant was overpressuare, nothing else.

Dude this is totally direspectful, so youre saying "Hey go for it,if you get hurt and want to sue 405th i dont care" This is our main concern, they can sue 405th and when that happens there won't be a 405th anymore.

Think about what you say because it can jeopardize all of us oh and try to say things in a nicer manner or YOU WONT BE ON 405TH ANYMORE-Yeah how do you like that.

well, what would be easiest is to but a tippman 98 custom, very durable, reliable and easy to mess with, also it has the shape already of the SMG, would work best as an ODSt smg. its entirely possible, there are actually companies that make casing for the 98 custom... its possible, not practical, you will most likely break it when sliding or crawling. but you can do it

ACDCrockr209-"It takes a more than your imagination to come up with something that will have to function efficiently in a "combat" situation. You will have to make sure the the body of the gun will stand up to heavy use and that it doesn't cause an explosion that will end up killing or injurying you or the gun's tester."

now i understand everyones point, but simply creating a shell over another gun is an easy and safer method, as long as you do not modify the internals or the tank, you should not fear explosion of the gun, the only worry is that the fiberglass casing will break.

Over all not the best plan unless you reaaaaallly know your way around a PB gun, but it is feasible
