Since the electricity was out from 1 to 9 pm I started to cut and fold a Plasma Sword hilt.

More to come this week, see ya !

Hooray for hurricanes ;)
not really, Irene uprooted a 10 years old, 20 foot tall Juniper I planted when I bout my house :(
I put it back in is place but its in rough shape.

Lets move on, today, between my regular work I manage to applied resin on the inside and outside of my forearms.

Tomorrow I'll try to fiberglass them

After 1h30 of work, job done :)
IMG_1867.jpg

Can't wait to start sanding and bondo them tomorrow, that mean more update to come, stay tune ;)

They look like they came out nice a straight, great job, now bondo time but it don't look like you'll need to much

Awesome work as always man. I've been following this thread with keen interest. I'm working on my Mk V version now but I REALLY can't wait to start the mk VI. But I did have a quick question. How did you attach the chest piece together. That's where I'm at currently, despite a few setbacks, but I'm looking for a good way to attach the back and front sections of my chest piece so that they fit perfectly together. Love to see how you managed to do it. As always, awesome work and can't wait to see it finished!

Hey ! Its me again ;)

Thanks Hyper, your right they wont need a lot of bondo and this is exactly what I want, so they can be as light a possible.

@ Fudz073 : I used some earth magnets bought on eBay for my chest, but the were too small and did not old it together very well when running or taking stairs. So I did some fiberglass hooks inside the upper part of it. I slide down the front part of the chest in them and the magnets center it. Its not perfect but it works :)

You can see the hooks in this picture.

Today I sanded down the unwanted edge of the pep forearms and mask the details I wanted to keep.
IMG_1870.jpg

I did some Bondo With my super rubber spatula (who is actually leftover from the sole I've put under my boots)
IMG_1871.jpg

A great bondo job = less sanding

IMG_1874.jpg

That's all for tonight folks.

That certainly is a great bondo job. Nice and smooth. Barely any sanding needed. Mission accomplished, I'd say.

Amazing bondo work, if only bondo didn't harden in about 40 seconds in texas lol

Man you are so right! That's the one thing bout workingwith bonding in Houston, especially with the past month with over 100 degree weather. It seems almost a waste one times -.-

Great work on the armor so far. I like the way you're keeping the chest together and the forearms look very nice too.

HOLY CRAP MAN!!! That is the finest mk vi I have seen, and there's a whole bunch of those on the 405th. Keep it up!

Sorry for the lack of updates lately, I was rushing to finish for the 17-18 sept Montreal comicon, but the paint job on my last 3 pieces was crap, so sadly I didn't go, took the family to the orchards to pick some apples insted :rolleyes.

If I learn something, its let the paint dry at least 2 days before doing black weathering on it :angry

Anyway, I took a week off from my build, and now I'm back at it, the new deadline is October 23rd, for the Montreal ToyCon.

To change my mind I peped a Plasma sword Hilt.
IMG_1877.jpg

Did some brace to keep it straight and fiberglass them.
IMG_1884.jpg

After filling the to half's with urethane foam, stick them together with some bondo.
IMG_1887.jpg

Did some bondo on it.
IMG_1890.jpg

Primed
IMG_1897.jpg

Add some details, was working on the Forearms at the same time.
IMG_1902.jpg

Voila :)
IMG_1922.jpg

I did a groove on one side to slide in the Chicago screw that come out of my thigh
IMG_1923.jpg

Yesterday I repainted my right thigh after sanding it back to the primer, got to do the same on the forearms after adding the lines that was missing under them. I also started to pep a Needler on my breaks and lunch time at work.

Today I stop by a upholstery supplier and bought some fake leather to do the neckseal with the pattern I receive for my donation to the 405th last year.

So much more to come.

Oh, and thanks a lot for your comments keep them coming :)

Mark VI Complete

So I finally completed my MarkVI, It was a intense rush to finish in time for the October 23 Montreal Toycon. But it was worth it :)

Even the 501st was impressed ;)

In the week before Halloween I tweak some parts and made others to be more comfortable in it. On Halloween Day, I left work early to show it off at my workplace, and at some friends place, my brother, my mom. On the way back home for Halloween night, took the kids at daycare and school, all this in my MarkVI minus the boots and helmet when I drive :p

At my younger son's Daycare center

After Halloween I took a month off from working on my costume, to work in the house and play Batman Arkham Asylum(never took the time before) then Halo Anniversary, and lately on December 2 I learn there is a mini-comiccon in Montreal the next day. That night I worked On rewiring my chest till 2 am, got up at 7, went to the Scouts with my son at 8:30 to 12:30, lunch with friends, then go at the Comiccon at 3:45, to late for the cosplay competition. But everybody found my costume awesome, must have taken 30+ pictures with fan's :) it was great ! :) Can't wait for the big one in September.

Me at the moment... V

AMAZING WORK! The detail you put in your suit is AMAZING and I can only wish that I can make my suit half as good as yours!

Again, GREAT JOB!
