So, after two hellish weeks I'm back on track. Spring break was not cooperative at all. It rained just about everyday, or threatened to. I was able to rondo my helmet, but that was it. Unfortunately, my mixture was too thick to slush, so I finished it off by brushing the mix around.
After that set for a week, I cut the visor slits out.
Then I prepped the helmet for separation. I made some blue sharpie bands over where I planned to cut so when I re-attach with magnets I have reference mark
that's my son holding the back piece.
And as I was fearful of...it doesn't fit. couple inches too short, but! It fits my son quite nicely. Since I was going to make him a suit after I finished mine, this works out.
While I waited for the weather to improve, I pepped one of the forearm pieces.
The weather is perfect today so I started to resin the torso...and ran out of brushes. Figures. Going to have to pick some more up next time I'm at the store. While I wait on that I'm going to pep another helmet. This time, I'm starting from the top and try it on in stages to make sure it will fit, so as to not waste materials.
