First build planning (Rakshasa)

Definitely lemme know how it works for ya. I had a V2 and it just didn't work for me. Got a P1P from BambuLab after that
Will do! I would have gone for a bambulabs printer but it was just out of the budget unfortunately, I'm sure I'll eventually upgrade but I feel like this is a good cost effective starting point

Yeah definitely a little pricey, but the A1 gets ya P1 or X1 performance which is regarded as one of the best at half the price. KE still is less of course.

Yeah the A1 looked really nice.
When I inevitably end up wanting a 2nd printer it will definitely be a bambulabs printer.

From what I've seen online though, the V3 KE is actually a massive upgrade from previous models, so I think it will be alright for now

Im gonna be putting a bit of a pause on this thread for now, as I suddenly got absolutely obsessed with the idea of doing a Din Djarin cosplay... I might make a thread on that in the non halo section though! I do plan on doing this build, but honestly the files I planned on using were more expensive than what I wanted to pay right now, and I honestly just really wanted to build something so I went and got started on mando instead

Haha, the biggest threat to any build is shiny object syndrome, especially when the next build is poking its head up over the hills. Mandalorians are pretty cool though, can't blame you for that.

Still gonna give you a little guff for choosing them over us Spartans lol. No matter, def a good opportunity to hone your print and finishing skills!

Yeah honestly I kept seeing videos of people's Din cosplays, then considered the fact that it's significantly cheaper... And I just figured it'd be a better option for right now

Don't worry, I think I have a good few Halo projects in my future
At the very least, this Rakshasa build is not abandoned, just paused, and I also really wanna build my Reach/Infinite Spartan as well, the list could go on and on... I think I'm gonna learn a lot from the Mando build as well, have some big plans for it

Well, printing for my mando kit is nearly done and since I have obsessive tendencies, I'm back into planning some of my Rakshasa kit! Basically, once my Mando is done printing I'll start printing my Rak, while working on the rest of my mando. So hopefully by the time I'm done my mando kit, my Rak will be fully done printing and I can get to work on that!

Finally bought Aguilar's Rakshasa core, gonna get it all scaled to me in armorsmith and if all goes well I should be starting to print parts of my Rakshasa next week!!

Well, I was able to get my first chunk of this build actually printed today! Just like my Din, I plan on starting at the bottom and working my way up.

I got the toe cap printed and while the rest of my boot armor is printing I've been studying my blender reference model and trying to plan things out. I have decided I'm going to pull a pattern off an old boot and actually make the boot underneath myself. I plan on sandwiching thin EVA foam parts between some Marine vinyl for the outside, and spandex or stretchy (Comfortable) fabric for the inside lining. Anyways, that will all be for a later post. For now, I noticed I could make the strapping on the boot with some 1" elastic I have laying around, so I did a little test fit for that and was able to replicate the exact layering pattern that is in the references

Anyways, I thought it looked cool, I'll update again soon as I get more parts printed out

Boot armor fully printed, might be heading out tomorrow for the fabric and materials for the actual boot itself. Some weird lines but nothing I can't fix, really happy with how this turned out. Shin armor is printing now!

First fit test and with some padding the shin fits PERFECTLY. The boot looks a little goofy with my tiny ankle sticking out but once I get all the materials I need for the under boot (?) It should be looking nicely fitted. As far as scale in relation to the shin goes I'm very very happy. More updates very very soon

Would those two little teeth at the end of the toe move when you walk?
Yeah, they're articulated, they move up but not down. They're pretty rigid right now so they really wont move unless I want them to, I could sand them so theyre more loose but honestly I prefer if they don't flop around

And thanks guys, I'm really happy with the progress I've made. Currently learning how to use my sewing machine for the soft goods, and I've also been custom 3d modeling faux buckles so I can get all the details as close to the game as possible

I also gathered some really good reference screenshots for the gloves, i think Im gonna start doing some different tests for those this weekend to try and figure out how I'm going to make them. Have some plans in mind but I'll mostly just figure it out as I go
