I finished fibreglassing the shins, i need to bondo them still. Now on to the boots.

I started painting some of the smaller bits then decided i might as well put a layer on every that needed it.

Do you even have a job!!!!!!! I can barely get 1 piece done in a week. You have waaaaayyyyy to much time on your hands. Fantastic work.....I mean it....everything looks FANTASTIC!!!.

I'm currently in between college and university, so i have had quite a bit of time but I've just started a new job for a couple weeks so my progress has slowed. And thank you very much.

Just curious do you plan to do any body filler work to the armor?

I don't use body filler like a lot of people here do, i just use it on certain parts that need smoothing over, instead of covering most of the armour in it then sanding back in the detail. I find this helps keep the weight down and allows me to keep the details that i pepped in. The pieces get enough strength from fibreglass. So i have to bondo (p38 car filler in the UK, but more people know it as bondo so i say that) one thigh and both shins still.

Also please may someone tell me or point me in the direction of hot to multi-quote properly, i don't think I'm doing it right. I looked through the stuck threads but they weren't much help. Thanks very much

Prototyping a pistol out of a lot of layers of cardboard. I was then going to remake it out of wood, but I'm trying to think of ways to get the moving parts in it and harden it. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

IMG_7096.jpgIMG_7095.jpgIMG_7099.jpg

I almost finished fibreglassing the feet today but then ran out of resin, so tomorrow i'll bondo some things instead.

Green is a lovely colour... I've gone from 5 cans of green spray paint down to less than one, so i'll need to buy some more to finish the suit. The thighs have a huge surface area so they eat through paint. I have a different shade green for the details but I'm still deciding whether its the right the shade.
IMG_7100.jpgIMG_7104.jpg

The first layer of bondo went on the shins and second thigh. I sanded it down but didn't have time to apply a second layer.
IMG_7101.jpgIMG_7102.jpg

I was also prototyping how to mount the boots. I think I'll make a platform out of wood then be able to mount a pair of shoes on top and then mount the other parts of the boot to them. I'm planning to permanently have the boots instead of having a normal pair of shoes that i slip into and out of the boots. If i can find some i plan on adding some rubber to the base so not to scratch floors or damage the boots too much.

I really love your build. It's so pretty... ;_;
Great job, Spartan! You're making progress so fast! o.o

Your going to make the base of the boot solid wood full piece? Your not going to be able to bend your foot if you do that........you would need to have a break or 2 somewhere ....by the flex point of your foot......in order to have a smoother foot motion.....You'd be goose stepping if you didn't.

I was planning on having wood under the toes and heel, but I've still got some things to work out, like how to keep all the pieces together and cover the shoes I'll use. But all suggestions are great.

Thanks very much, it means a lot

If you want to use a wooden platform, I'd recommend seeing RBF's thread. He did an amazing solution:

Also, great demonstration of how he can walk... and he said he can even run! :D

Thats brilliant, thanks very much for showing me.

So i got a new toy. I'm making a strap for it on the thigh so the covert doesn't have to be permanently attached to the suit. I'm just wrapping a bit of thin cardboard in black leather then I'll screw or nail that into the thigh.
IMG_7105.jpgIMG_7106.jpg

I've now done all the layers of the pistol and cut out the magazine. i still have to work out how ill get the cock to work and the trigger and magazine release. I've got some ideas but it's just the problem of implementing them. Then I'll be able to glue it and what not.
IMG_7107.jpgIMG_7108.jpg

I did another test of my armour now almost all of the hardening is done. There's part of one thigh that needs to be trimmed down and the shoulders and other thigh will need extra padding to stay in place. I'm also thinking of using velcro to stop things spinning around. Also i still have weathering and and detail painting to do on most of the pieces, and i am wearing two thighs, just ones black.

I finished all the fiberglassing today, so i decided to put up photos of everything thats not finished. The shins, the feet and one thigh still need bondo and sanding, then priming and painting. The other thigh needs green, then all of them need weathering and details painted on. I found some springs to use in the gun as well when i get to that point.

IMG_7112.jpgIMG_7113.jpgIMG_7117.jpgIMG_7116.jpgIMG_7115.jpgIMG_7114.jpg

I've sanded the pistol down to apply bondo and added a couple screws for strength.
IMG_7120.JPG
I've weather the shoulders and abdomen pieces, now just for detailing and maybe a touch up on the weathering. I ran out of black so i still haven't finished priming everything. The shins and half a thigh still need doing. I have also laid out the padding for the shoulders but i haven't put it in yet.

Big update today. Apart from some adjusting it's finished. I ran out of glue otherwise it would be done. All thats left is one part on each of the boots and maybe some extra velcro. But first lets go back a bit. I screwed bits of wood in the feet to add extra height. i also added a foam insole to the crews don't dig into my feet. I still need to cut up an old boot and add rubber to the bottom so the screws don't scratch the floor. And because of the break i can walk just like normal, i could probably run but i haven't tried.

IMG_7158.jpgIMG_7159.jpgIMG_7160.jpg

IMG_7162.jpgIMG_7161.jpgIMG_7164.jpgIMG_7163.jpg
I added a covert to hold my lightsaber, and i made a belt of elastic with the bum and abdomen part to help hold up the thighs due to their weight.

Your build is looking really good! Yay! Finished! :D

But, wouldn't you want to lower the shins, so they would cover the boots a little?
No offense, the knee area looks just strange - like the thigh-knee-shin pieces want to overlap because they have no room, yet you have so much space between shin and boot... o.o

Looks good! Couple things tho. Put the forearm armor a little higher up your arm, and put the shins lower. I've really enjoyed watching this build progress, you're doin great!

The shins are meant to sit lower, but i didn't do the boots up properly so the ends didn't fit over, but i will do the boots up tighter so it fits when i actually wear it. If it doesn't work how i planned then i'll just have to trim the inside of the shin. Also there is a piece missing on the boots that will fill in more of that gap.

I'll do that with the forearms.

You could always cut off the top of the boot.......It was the first thing that caught my eye. Kind of like a kid wearing his much younger brother's pants and the hem is right at calf level. The suit looks Fantastic!!!! Don't get me wrong......It just looks funny. It's like you outgrew them or something. Great job...

Here's what the leg looks like when I've pulled it down over the boot, and it has the last part of the boot on as well so it doesn't look like i've grown 10cm in a dayIMG_7197.jpg
