I'd recommend keeping it at 260. Most people do tend to trim a bit off the opening from what I've been seeing. I just finished pepping my helmet and I think it's a bit big, but I still have a really hard time getting my head into it.

Also... you have some AMAZING pep work man. I'm seriously impressed. Keep it up! I too have people telling me I'll never finish it. Just gotta prove them wrong, lol.

I like the work. Nice and clean, no creases or unnecessary bumps. Clean resin coating. Well done, VERY well done.

Alright, I'm ALMOST done gluing the helmet together. Rex I think you are right about keeping it at 260mm cuz it looks like it will fit pretty nicely. I will post some pics probably tomorrow when the helmet is complete. I have to say, I am really impressed with how it's turning out! I always get super stoked when I finish gluing a piece together...the feeling of accomplishment, how you spent hours cutting, and folding, and gluing it together and how AWESOME it turns out! I bet it will feel even better when the whole suit is complete!!!

-Small update-

I finished gluing the helmet together and it turned out awesome! I haven't had time to upload pics yet because I'm studying for final exams. Soon though I will put up some pics and then I will start on the forearms!

I know exactly what you mean with finals taking up most of your free time. Please post more pics when you can. We all want to see more.

-update yay!-

Well, merry Christmas everyone! I got a sixsixone vapour pressure suit for christmas! Don't worry I haven't forgotten about taking pictures of my new helmet I pepped. Ive been working overtime because its so busy during christmas so I haven't had time. But now that I have my pressure suit Im super motivated! I will still continue to work on my armor and update when I have time.

Great Pep work, very clean! hope this one turns out right, if and when you get the Chest installed with the pressure suit, I might have some questions to ask. :) Keep up the great work!

-WOOOOOT UPDATE!-

Woohoo Im back! Sry about pretty much disappearing lol I got a new job. Anyways I haven't been working on the suit too much partly because it's cold up here in the north and I have to wait till around June to be able to resin my finished parts. BUT I may have found an alternative and I would like some advice/information about what I should do!

-EpoxAmite-
I have found what's called EpoxAmite. I've never heard of it but apparently its not toxic so I may be able to use it instead of resin but I'm not too sure about it... has anyone else used it before? Will it still be as strong as resin? I need more info before I decide to go with this option.

-Hot Box-
Another thing I found out about is a Hot Box. It's a box lined with tinfoil and has a lightbulb in it to cure resin faster. Now, I'm also not too sure about this either because if I use toxic resin and put it in the hot box, will the fumes still leak out of the box? I would have to put the resin on outside and then bring the hot box inside so it stays warm. If anyone has used this I would appreciate some info :3
Heres a link as well: how-to:make a hotbox for $30

And about those pictures lol my camera actually stopped working so I'm going to have to borrow my brothers camera and I WILL take them tomorrow! So hopefully I will be able to borrow it and put up some pics of my new helmet! Right now I'm working on the forearms :]

Well thats all for tonight!

I don't think its necessary to bring the hotbox inside to keep it warm since thats what the lightbulb is for. Fumes will mos likely leak out of the box since you can't make it 100% airtight. If you do leave tge hotbox outside, don't leave it unattended, resin is still pretty flammable.

Picture time!
I finally got some pictures uploaded. Tell me what you guys think?

[sorry about the bad quality, its kinda difficult to get a good picture of your head when you can't see lol]

And TJX62, about the hot box, I thought it took a long time for resin to cure so if I couldn't leave the box unattended wouldn't I be watching it for hours letting it cure?

Since resin cures with heat, a hot box would decrease the time it took to cure something. I guess "unattended" wasn't the proper term, I ment more along the lines of check on it periodicaly. Resin is flamable, so the last thing you wanna do is not check on it for an hour or so, and then when you look at it, all thats left is a flaming box.

Glad to see you back, how is the new job? The new Helmet is looking good, very clean folds and it looks like it is a great fit on your head! Good job!

About the hot box, the fumes will still get out of it so it needs to be placed in a well ventilated area. Outdoors is very well ventilated, but it may be simply too cold in the winter (unless you add a few extra light bulbs). I know here in Quebec it is too cold to leave the box outside this winter. If you have a garage, or a toolshed or some other building that isn't used much you could try the hotbox there, being out of the wind would help alot. I saw one member set up a hotbox in her bathroom which had a ventilation fan in it, but then your bathroom will smell like resin for a while.

Hmm, I guess I'm kinda getting ahead of myself here lol I still have a lot of pieces to pep. I don't think the hotbox will really work with me since I don't have a shed or workshop to put it in while the resin cures. I'm just really excited about sanding and detailing my armor pieces lol!

And about my pieces looking so clean and crisp, I basically just use a ruler with the pen to crease the fold and then fold it very carefully. I'm kinda a perfectionist so I really try hard to make it look good lol

By the way thanks for all the comments guys! I'm still working on the forearms and I'll post pics when they are done!

This is just random advice, you can take it or leave it, but I highly suggest at least resining the outside, and rondoing the inside of the pieces as you finish pepping them. In their paper-only state they are very easy to damage, and when paper is bent it stays bent, and the more pieces you make the higher the risk of one getting smashed! I'm paranoid like that though, and that awesomely clean pepakura work of yours would be a shame to see crushed.

Very very good work on it so far!

Katsu I appreciate the advice and I do agree with you but I can't really resin my pieces in this cold. Its gonna get to -20 C this week and last week it was around -35 C. And I don't have a shed or anything to put my resined pieces in. Unless someone has an idea of what I could do haha

There's always aqua resin!

I don't know how well it'd work in negative temps, but the hotbox is supposed to hold the heat in, and so long as you keep snow/rain from falling on the box, it should be okay to leave outside so long as you check on it periodically. I did mine in bad weather, we had a patio umbrella I used to protect the pieces while I heated them with a space heater.

Hmm, ya I'm still not sure if I should go with a hotbox or not. I really want to resin my pieces but I'm nervous about it in this weather and such I really don't want to ruin any pieces if it doesn't cure properly. Stupid cold weather....
