You can do what I did, and pick a low def piece, and use that as a test mule. Some of them can get pretty simple, and then it's not a big deal if it gets ruined while testing out methods. Alternative is to wait a few months for the weather to turn around.

Ya I could actually use my old helmet that was too big for a tester! It will also give me some experience since I've never used resin before.

Anyways I'm almost done cutting out the right forearm pieces, then I can start gluing! Btw I'm not using edge ID's this time because it was too cluttered with them on and I could barely see the lines in some spots.

-update-

Well, I finally finished the right forearm! [FINALLY!!]
Ive been working overtime so I haven't had as much time as I would like...

Anyways I scaled it to 280mm high but the thing is I can't fit my knuckles through the wrist hole in the forearm. I'm pretty sure that it WILL fit I'll just have to trim the opening after it's resined and such. I'll post some pics tomorrow to show you all.

Alrighty it's picture time!

im really sorry guys i said i would post pictures and then it takes me a century to actually get to it.

Here is my completed right forearm!

As you can see i cant fit my knuckles through the opening... Its scaled at 280mm height and it looks like it should fit but i need some opinions here.
Should I keep it as is or scale it bigger?

thx everyone!

Pepping looks very clean, good job. From the pictures you put up I would say that it is scaled pretty well, but it is a bit difficult to tell when we can only see your forearm. How does it compare with your other armour pieces?

Aero I ran into the same problem. What I'm planning to do is when its hardened is carve out the front edge just enough to fit my hand in OR cut it in half and attach it using rare earth magnets or a hinge.

Hey guys!

Sorry I haven't replied I was actually on vacation in Costa Rica... :D
But now I'm back and it's getting warmer outside so that means I gotta get working and resin and fiberglass my armor! Well first I gotta finish all the pepping... but anyways I managed to squirm my hand through the forearm and I think it should fit nicely. I didn't get a picture but I might take one later.

Alright! Im still working on the armor! lol I finished both forearms and I just finished cutting out the right shoulder piece. Im gonna start gluing it together and move on to the left shoulder. Im gonna try to take some time off work so I can just do a marathon of working on the armor and get as much done as i can.

great work so far and as far as the scaleing goes i'd say that you could cut it in half and clip it

Im really hoping that I can finish my armor by november 6th... its hard trying to work on this project while working full time lol. Anyways i have both forearms finished and the right shoulder!

Does the shoulder look alright? Im pretty skinny so I had it scaled at 270 mm height.

And I'm pretty excited I just went down to Canadian Tire and bought a bunch of Fibreglass resin and Bondo and spot putty! Along with a bunch of other stuff. Its not as warm as I would like it to be outside but I have Sunday off work so Im gonna start to Resin my helmet and possibly my chest piece.

I have a dilemma though... Ive been reading and watching Cereal Kill3rs thread and vids that he put up and I can't decide whether I want to Fibreglass the inside of the helmet or Rondo the inside. I want it to be strong its just Rondoing looks so much easier and faster. I just wanted to get your guys opinion on it. Now to get back to my pepping.... so much more work to do....

Using a SixSixOne Vapore Pressure Suit is definitely a win on a Mark 6 armor. Guess you saw the one of LongShot-X who is using the same undersuit. Great progress so far, wish you the best in having your Mark 6 finished for Halo 4 release!

Haha ya LongShot-x was my inspiration for starting my armor and i thought his undersuit was awesome! Still gotta buy some pants but I think I know which ones Im gonna go with.

i had the exact same problem with my forearms, they were scaled soo perfectly, that i decided that it would be best to make a attachment on it so i could fit my hand through.

Lol ya I think that I will just cut the opening more once its resined. Has anyone used Rondo? I'm leaning a bit towards using Rondo just because it looks a lot easier but is it a lot weaker than using fibreglass? Like do you guys recommend using Fibreglass or Rondo? I've not had any experience with either and I just wanna get some opinions :]

You can do a bit of both. Use the thread search function to find mudglassing. basically you use some rondo and put a light layer in your piece. Before the rondo has a chance to dry you press strips of fibreglass mat/cloth into the wet rondo. Heavier than fibreglassing alone, but likely faster and more durable than plain rondo.

As a side note, I always like reading threads where people talk about stores I recognize. Good old Canadian Tire....

Thanks Nessy Ill look into that!

So, stupid day today... it was supposed to be +22 and sunny out today and it's one of my ONLY days off and I was 100% ready to start to resin my helmet! Well the weather decided it didn't want to be +22 and sunny... it was +12 and cloudy and windy all day I was so dissapointed! Oh well, I guess ill have to start another day... stupid cold weather its supposed to be summer!!! (ANGER FACE!)
