Nice! that is an awesome technique! I'm looking forward to seeing this come to life!
Thanks! I imagine this would work pretty terribly on the torso armor, especially since you have a gun blocking most of it moat of the time. And even with the arms the angle isn't perfect and the scaling isn't quite right, but its a good enough start with how forgiving foam is

Bet you guys weren't expecting an update from me! I've got a small update :D

The other half of the backpack is finally cut out. I put aside my helmet because I'm trying to get this wearable by next Friday for Anime Midwest, and I technically already have a helmet. Next came the boots. Both are cut out, and the left is assembled. I have some terribly worn out tennis shoes, and I picked up some comically oversized rubber over shoes at Farm and Home. They're meant to be used as a waterproof/slip resistant cover for your work boots, but I thought they looked perfectly like the Halo 4/5 foot undersuit part. And since it is rubber, there is just enough stretch and spring to allow me to remove the laces from the shoes, and I can just slip them on and enough and the rubber holds them on in place! I also traced the sole of the shoe onto 2 Eva mats and layered them inside, so the whole boot adds about 1.5 inches to my 5' 5" frame, bringing me slightly closer to the Spartan height without looking weirdly disproportionate. Next I'm gonna work on the gauntlets. I decided to go with ODST over the Twin Plated I started with the tracing, for the sake of simplicity.

Cheers!

UPDATE:

Due to time constraints I have no way of getting a decent undersuit together, along with a secure means of attaching the armor to myself. So I decided to modify my build and go as more of a "Tactical ODST" than a Spartan.

I pulled out my airsoft chest rig, stripped it down as much as I could, then rearranged it to fit over my armor! (Gotta love MOLLE). The result looks like a cross between Halo 5's Nightfall Armor and Reach's Counter Assault chest! Best of all, I now have a secure and comfortable place to hang straps for my should and leg armor!

Another plus side is because I'm wearing BDUs underneath instead of skin-tight black under armor, theoretically the suit should be slightly cooler to wear. (Being an airsofter I know just how hot these things can be too )

I've got my Scout Shoulder and Buttplate traced to foam, and the gauntlet cardstock cut out. I needed a break from all the tracing, so I went ahead and modified the weightlifting gloves I got at Walmart for 7 bucks with some 6mm and 2mm craft foam! I think they turned out great and are very flexible.

Until next time (I have a lot of work ahead of me by Thursday xD)

Cheers!

Heh, MOLLE is a lifesaver for quick and easy put-togethers, hell, I even used it for my suit. The Tactical ODST look is very good, man. Can't wait to see more, and I hope you'll do more even after the con...?

UPDATE:

It's crunch time people. Gloves are done, EVERYTHING IS CUT OUT! WOO!
Started assembling the scout shoulder. Its such an interesting shape! Hopefully I can finish assembling everything tomorrow, so I can spend my day off Tuesday painting, and then letting it dry Wednesday. Thursday is the travel day!

P.S. Just because you are in a time crunch doesn't mean you can skimp on seams!

Larry Jones, this thread hasn't been responded to for a year and a half. Please don't reply to threads that are over 3 months old.

I believe there's a forum rule against links leading to profit sites, but i'll let continue else address that because I need to do more research.
