Ooh, thigh piece looks nice, Nightshade! Gave it a good twice-over, and I see Harding's on the unfold. This will be gooood, yes.

That new thighs looking awesome guys :D

Theres a question i want your opinions on.

After I do all the resin etc stages on the torso, I'm going to secure it onto a vest probably using pop rivets (If that wouldn't compress the torso + vest so much that they break).

But before I attach the torso onto a vest I'll cut these lines (on the picture below)

wheretocut.jpg

Should i cut them after the torso is bondo'd or will i be fine if a cut them and then resin them as 4 seperate sections?

I have a question. I was reading the tutorials and I'm a bit confused.

Do I fiberglass both the inside and the outside of a helmet or piece?

i dont have the thigh unfold done yet since its super hard with the scales bcuz of the tiny little edges but im working on it

This thread is just... so... full... of... win.

Looking forward to the unfolded Thighs. I definitely know I'll be folding those as soon as they're up, Psychology Midterm be damned. :]

Harding Thigh Unfold.

Pure unfold win. Will be added to the main post/wiki ASAP, as well as the top sight.

Also, for anyone who is afraid of how many pages the thigh is, remember, if you take out the scales and supports, it's only like seven pages. It looks like a pretty easy build to me, considering its smoothness/detail in Pep. Hey Harding, I'm sorry the scales were hard to pick edges for, lol, that must have been a bit frustrating ...

In my opinion, the pep has more pieces obviously, but I'm sure the paper model will require much less Bondo than the low-detail file, sooo, cool. Becaauuse, well, I suck at sanding Bondo.

I think that, in two or three months, when I'll actually have time to do some serious armor-building, I'll mold these by bottom inside semi-circular loop from the main piece after resining, and then mould the outisde, inside piece and scales separately. If you look at it that way, then molding doesn't seem so hard. Lol, just expensive. Note that, for perfect accuracy, you will have to add some tiny scratch-build shapes to the square on the side

ZOMG! I just remembered that those square thingys connect to little boxes! I SHOULD MODEL THEM! Lol, idk how I forgot about those. Update soon.

if anyone needs any health in this thread, here is a med pack

the model isnt completely accurate, but i like it and i figured maybe someone else would like to make one.

I unfolded your Health Pack. By scaling it a 8 1/2 inch (217 mm), I'm using one less sheet of cardboard. I tried to group the things that I feel go together when unfolding.

This is my first official unfolding. I haven't built anything yet so I don't know if I did something wrong. I'll build this thing as I feel it would make for a great "snack box" if the cover can be removed. It would also make a great casing for an iPod with the speakers on the side. I'm not too tech savvy when it comes to electronics but it would make for a nice project. So here it is, I encourage comments on the unfold.

Thanks a lot.

@nightshade are u talking about the little pouches that Dutch has on both sides of his thighs, cuz i was goin to ask u about them lol

I was just rummaging around in my closet to find my cutting mat, and I saw some sheets of craft foam my mom must've tossed in there for me...

Then it hit me. I'm going to glue the Pep onto the craft foam upside down, then cut it out, (So that then the foam is rightside up) most likely having to take a different course of assembly. This should allow for the inside of the thighs to be flexible but fitting, and then I fan find some way to attach them to the actual thigh armor once it has been resined. I unfortunately won't have to to do a whole thigh tonight, as I've got work and a midterm to study for, but I'll probably at least end up trying out this idea on the inside section, I'll let you all know how it turns out.

Lol, that's exactly what I'm talkin' bout. A little extra pepping is always worth a little extra lookin-more-bad-azz in your armor. And better yet, THEY CAN ATTATCH w/ MAGNET! Woo, i don't even know if they're supposed to, buuut ... that would be awesome!

I tried Google. Can someone get me one or two screenshots of those little pouches? I know they're simple, but it's still nice to have an accurate simple model.

EDIT:

Oh. Also, I added the HD Thigh and SMG Sight to the main post ...

Oh, and Sierra, I saw a guys who has already resined the torso, and he pepped the model and resined it twice, and then made those cuts. After he cut the stuff, then he used Bondo. That's what my own advice would be ...
