Helmet looks awesome with the visor! I like the black too. Maybe add some battle damage? That's just my opinion. Great job though!

Hey guys, wanna thank you all for your feedback and support. It's been a rough few weeks. Redoing the chest piece has been a huge setback but I've fiber glassed the new build and have begun bondo-ing.

I'm going to do a thick, sloppy, coat tonight and then let it dry until tomorrow. The rain has stopped (Finally!) but it's still a little humid. But, I'll sand it tomorrow and then bondo the final touches. Unlike the first chest piece attempt, this build will finished before I cut it in half. It'll keep all the dimensions consistent along the cutting seams (Theoretically). Hope to post soon. Gotta get this done!!!

Progress is... steady on the chest piece. I finished sanding the first layer of bondo. There was also a little bit of patchwork needed to be done. But, I'm happy with the overall results so far. I've been referring to my first make throughout the process so I'd figure I display the size difference between the old version and the new version.

It's pretty insane. I'm terrible at scaling. For the helmet, I pepped three different sizes before I finally got it right. But, it is my first set of armor. I'm just afraid that when I start making the mk VI suit I'll do the same. And those pieces are made of nearly double the amount of cut-outs than the mk V!!!!

Looks Great!!! Never get tired of seeing Mark V suits! I'd say pep as much of the suit as you can then harden it. With my suit I peped everything in a few days and it was a lot quicker to harden when it was all in front of me. Keep at it!

I was thinking about doing that... Might just pep everything this weekend... buy pizza and have a few of my friend help me cut out some paper.

Looks pretty sweet man! Gonna be some jealous fans at the anniversary release.
I hope so!!! I let the fellas out in my gamestop know what I'm up to and they seem pretty psyched... here's to hoping.

So, two quick updates. I'm currently pepping the arms, both gauntlets and shoulders. Should be done by sunday. Plus I found out today that I DID get the night off work to go to the midnight release of anniversary. Pretty damn psyched. So yeah, pictures to come...

Alright,

I got alot done this weekend. Both arms have been pepped and are waiting to be resined. They should be fiberglassed before the end of week. Here's what I've got

I also happened to come across a familiar fella at FYE yesterday and couldn't help myself...

I figured it would be a great reference for the build... plus it's just so cool!! And then I got bored...

So that's it so far. I plan I pepping and resining the cod piece next week, hopefully

Work is coming along. Mondays and Tuesdays are my rough days with school and work but I managed to get the arms resined. I plan on fiberglassing tomorrow. That'll give me the rest of the week to finish the arms and chest piece... at least that's the plan. I ended up watching half of the halo-fest panels last night while doing my lab report so it's really re-motivated me to get alot of this done.

ALOT of work was done today. Much thanks to my new (cheap!) addition, a heat box. I managed to get a large box from wal-mart (they actually just gave it to me) and lined the inside with aluminum foil. Finished with a heat lamp my friend let me borrow and the thing is perfect. I fiberglassed all the arm pieces and instead of the usual hour long cure time, the resin cured in fifteen minutes. Pretty Sweet!

But as far as the arm pieces go, all four pieces were fiber glassed and sanded.

And I managed to get the forearms complete for the most part.

I used foamies to add the accents. I still need to do the weathering/wear paint job. But it's been a long day. The shoulder pads have the holes cut for the lights. A final round of sanding and painting tomorrow will see them finished. For comfort purposes, I came across this foam door insulator stripping. It makes a great form of padding for the inside edges of the armor.

This is what i've got so far. Tomorrow will be another day of work. I really want to get the arms finished by monday. The chest and waist piece will hopefully be done by next weekend. Anniversary is just around the corner!

Another weekend gone and another chunk done!
Both shoulders were completed today...woo! They took a little more painting than usual, I had some problems sanding away some of the edges (hot glue doesn't like to sand... go figure). I also managed to start a rough sand on the chest piece as well as installing the hinges to open the stupid thing. Here's what I've got.

For the little light window I used a cheap blue plastic star box I found at Michael's. It was about two bucks and worked out pretty well, I think. The light is an LED connected to two AA batteries. There's no switch, I just take out a battery when I want it off, nothing complicated. I plan to do the same thing for the chest and thigh lights. That's what I have so far. Only 44 days left (roughly)!

I must say, Im really enjoying this build! There is some great thinking going on in the thread. Keep up the fantastic work my man!

amazing stuff going on here... i hadn't checked up on it for a bit, but you have progressed so far in such a very short period of time, man, it just blows my mind. i like the green you went with too, has an authentic military look to it... looking forward to the final fit...
