Here there are all our current props,most of them still unfinished.

Yet,we have a complete marine armor,so we started shooting some days ago.

If this goes ahead, from one 3D animator to another, PLEASE DON'T use lens flares!!!



That's all I ask. :) It's one of those 'things' that people new to 3D animation use way too much and it tends to cheapen your movie. If you must put one in, only use one in the whole movie.

Lens flares are one of those things that camera operators go to all sorts of lengths to prevent, and 3D graphics artists seem to love them for some reason.



Have a look at any major blockbuster movie set in space. Count the lens flares (except Star Wars ep. 3....) and follow their lead.

sorry i havent checked back in a while but sure i could send you a photo, but it will have to wait until i finish my odst armor and some weapons, thats another thing i forgot to say, my armor is going to be odst so i hope you can fit it into the story. the problem with the cars is that it makes it look like there was some civilian precens wich may not fit into the story of the halo ring, it may make it more of a challenge but not impossible. i was also hoping to do the thing where a guy gets impaled by a brute spiker because ive alway wanted to do that. also my friends wont have armor so the marines will either be armorless or i will have tomake some quike armor for them, by the way how did you make youre marine armor, please reply



edit: my main odst armor will have some infected armor doubles if you want the odst/me to get infected.



Edit #2: i also havent found too many peopleto be actors, so far only me and two others, and they all want to be odsts! i am also going to get some scrap wood to make a odst drop pod so it would be great if you could make a cgi render that i could base mine off of. i really hope to help you with this movie

That sounds Great.

I'll give you more informations:

1) In the movie, the Structure found by the humans is not an Halo Ring: it's somethiong more ancient,made by the Forerunners. The human building could be part of the sieged city on the planet Europa.

2) ODSTs are always welcome:If you had a "Blue/Green Screen" we could also shoot the scenes inside the Structure;

I'd add the digital environment later.



3) The Structure is full of Flood,and most of the squad is killed/infected:$nly one manages to escape.



4) I'll do my best for the drop pod...I hope that I can make it(...school problems..)

can you please send me some of the storyboards and the script so that i can get a better idea of what we wil be doing, for the green screen my bed sheets are completely green although it is a dark green, i will take a pic and edit it into this post later, i was also thinking that maybe we should have two different stories that go on during tha same time that are switched between at certain points. the stories would be somehow related yet completely different, maybe the unsc out post in my part is a base in charge of the excavation of the forerunner structure and the unsc personell inside (AKA my odsts) have to hold the covenant off from inside the outpost, they would eventually be forced to retreat once their squad is the only on left, afterwards they would retreat locking them selves in the building, they would continue retreating until they come across a large vault like door, opening the door they come across the flood, they eventually escape the flood but it infectsthe dead body of there comrade who proceeds to hunt them down, at the same time they are fighting for survival from both the covenant and the flood, in the end the remaining two have to escape through a large amount of covenant before making a call for help to the frigate that dropped off there pods

Hishe pointed this out in Star Trek: How It Should Have Ended... quite funny...

I could see an occasional "accidental" small lens flare appearing once in a while and rendering artifacts, but there is a limit.



The teaser shows some promise.

for the pod I was going to make a full sized prop and i was hoping capestranus could make a cgi double for flight sequences

Good luck, those things are somewhere around 10ft tall (even when embedded into the ground).

well i might not make it ten feet tall but it will be able to hold a full sized human inside when completed

About the armor: My brother made it with cardboard,without the use of Pepakura.

cut the cardboard so that when you bend it,it looks like the halo front piece armor.

Then,color it with a dark non-metallic color and later add a dry-brush of metal-silver painting.

SO... I wanted to write down the basic events in the movie, so that you can have an idea about the plot and the storyline.



Chapter 1)

-the Covenant forces attack Europa,a small planet controlled by the UNSC;

-During the siege,some humans are captured and taken into the CCS "Justice";

-The "Minister of Wisdom",a minor prophet,orders to leave the system when the prisoners are on the ship;

-...the other covenant ships glass the planet.



Chapter 2)(few days after the "Europa"event)

- The UNSC vessel "Thor" receives a rescue message from a distant,unknown planet inside the Covenant empire;

-Arrived at the star system where the signal is coming from, they find the wreckage of a CCS ship.

-A squad of marines[and ODSTs] lands on the surface of the planet,which is surrounded beautiful

rings of by dust and rocks(like Saturn,but more intense);

-The source of the signal is a crashed Spirit dropship: around it,lots of stuff and things.

-The squad then finds a huge alien structure:it's something like a giant pit(like a big railway),large about 20m

which goes from the horizon to an enormous metallic tower ,on the other side of the valley.

-They find,near the dropship,2 bodies(UNSC marines): somewhere on the planet ,there are the survivors to the

crash,and the squad decides to find them.

-they head to the tower,but soon they realize that they are not alone.



More coming soon.

It's difficult to translate the scrip preserving the power of the original words: I should master the

language more.



Hope you like it...I think that we 'll use your building for the first chapter.

p.s.

We will not have brutes...so no Spiker....What about a Needler?

A needler could work but it would have to be painted red instead of pink, i also found some more great locations today. outside of my town there is a small ghost town with a hospital that goes two floors under ground, and a little farther from that are some mountains and some ruins from some more buildings that burnt down that i could use as another location.



i also have come up with an idea of how my odsts could fit into that story for more than just the fall of the planet



-in the story my odsts could be holding off the planet of europa but when told to retreat end up on the unsc "thor".

-when your team finds the crashed dropship they call in for more search parties and the ship drops small teams of odsts all aroud the relic, including my team.

-Anti aircraft fire then destroys two of the five pods and sets the other three in my team way off course, causing us to crash land about a mile away from the acctual structure.

-they are then forced to make a base camp and hold the defencive position as long as they can against covenant forces

- after a squad mate is hit with a fatal wound he decides to hold of the covenant(using dual-wielded mix of spartan laser and smg :lol )while the other two escape with whatever weapons they can muster

-inside the structure it becomes even harder to survive as the flood attacks them from all angles

-while waiting for evac another one gets killed at the hands of the arbiter while the odst major(me) escapes with his head hanging in shame and sorrow for his lost commrades



tell me what you think of this or if you really only want us to be in the fall of the planet

I need 5 ODSTs inside the structure,so that 4 of them can actually turn ,one by one ,into flood.

I'll need also many other humans for the fightings sequences around the Relic.

When you can do it,could you send me some picuters of the locations you found? Thanks.

I'm very busy right now,because of school, but I'll do my best to provide you with storyboards and a translated script as soon as I can.

if you go for the people playing more than one troop idea you can use the excuse:"cough,cough cover your mouths you DON'T want to breath this ---- in."
 
PLEASE READ!



Capestranus almost everything is looking good but, here are a few things that could really improve your film:



-Cover up your mouth with a bandana eg. Halo Wars



-Halo 3 Marine style glasses



-Design some under-armour for your marine suit



-Work on some weathering effects on your armour



-Lighting is very very important on setting a mood as well as music



-You may want to work on your camera angles a little



Anyways everything is looking pretty good but, in my opinion these could really make or break your film.







P.S. the suggestions about the Marine armour are just to make it not as noticeable that your young plus it'll make you look like a total badass! Under-armour is also going to help beef you up and make you look a lot more like an actual marine.



Anyways keep up the great work I'm really looking forwards to this!
 
found some old hockey pads that could look like odst forearms when modified with cardboard, and Frock liffe, my marines in this movie are odsts that will have under armor as well.
 
Just a thought.



Have a watch of some Japanese anime movies and pay attention to lighting and camera work as said above. Appleseed, Final Fantasy: Advent Children, Animatrix, etc etc to name a few mainstream ones.

When it comes to dynamic and interesting camera angles, the Japanese are very good at it.
