MONDAY UPDATE 7/25/12
Yes, yes i know it's Wednesday, but I've been so busy with lots of stuff the last few days. I know I said I was getting the rest of the pieces printed, but hasn't happened yet, sadly. I will try to get them printed later on this week or so. But in other news, I fiber glassed the inside of my helmet finally and started to crack out the can of bondo and started getting to work on it, the visor is finished(bondo), but still needs a few final touches to it before I spot-putty it. I was only able to do the top part of the helmet, but it's taking me a while to get the whole area round and even, which is hard when you are dealing with spherical shapes and sides, enough of me talking, PICTURE TIME! \/

The visor looks a little deformed and weird shaped on the edges, bu I'm still improvising on what I should do about it.

haha thanks, for it being my first pilot build, I'd say it's looking pretty good. you didn't mold the helmet? if not, WOW, you've got some talent and patience!

Hey, good luck with this build! I love the armor you chose. I like the vacuumforming, thermoforming, idea. I actually am almost done with my home made vacuumform, but I don't know how easy it is to find clear plastic. I thought of using Smooth-On Crystal Clear to cast an irregular shaped visor, but I think the fumes might be dangerous? There is a really awesome thread by Redshirt about making see-through reflective visors here:

I can't wait to see your progress on this build!
Thanks for the support dude, I KNOW!!! It's like IMPOSSIBLE to find it anywhere, except online, but idl that idea.

Monday update 7/30/12
Hey everyone,
uumm there isn't really nothing to discussforright now because I went on a little "break" from everything armor related. the only things I did was I finished resining the knife that goes on the security shoulder piece. and nothing else. And for the moment, I have no clue where the pepakura papers are for the initial body piece. K bye

A Little Update
Hey everyone,
I started to work on my helmet today and I finished the back part of the helmet, but I haven't sanded and smoothed it yet, I did a little bit on the front, but it's not done yet, PICTURE TIME :):):):):):)

Most of the Bondo work is done.
Last night I did a little bit more bondo work than usual, I did 2 batches of bondo on the helmet before it all cured. Also my dad came outside and helped me because he wanted to help and he has experience with bondo from when he was in tech school when he was my age, he did more work than I did, he knows how to work fast haha.

The top of the helmet is smoother than a baby's bottom...no exaggeration!

Hey everyone, it's been a while since the last time I told you I needed the pepakura files copied onto cardstock. And finally, the day has come! That's right, I got everything in cardstock form, except the wrist pieces because they were in blue and red. And it would have costed me like a dollar a copy in color, that's why my mom's gonna do that for me. The first thing I started on was the pilot helmet's attachment on the right side, that's completed within a half an hour. The second thing I worked on was the security shoulder. so I'm like 68% through it and the top was acting weird, it wasn't giving me that round effect on the top. So I trashed it. I'll show a pic of it to show you all what it was looking like. It's no big deal. So for right now, I'm working on the waist piece and it's coming along very well. I also received the calf pieces too and I noticed the most horrific problem on the pieces, there was no edge ID! They were numberless! But I've gotta accept it and use the computer 10000% for these two pieces. Let me ask you, should I do BOTH shins at the same time, or do one at a time? I'll post some pictures later of the attachment, the shoulder, and the waist piece. If you have and comments or advise for me, I'm all ears! :)
-Take care

A BIG UPDATE
Hey everyone,
It's been a while, like 2 month since I've posted an update on this. Well that dosen't matter, I got a lot of work done! I've bought and vacuum formed the visor and placed it in, I finishes the chest piece with 2 lights in, and I finished a shin piece. I'm slowly getting there, but I've gotta speed it up! I've also made 2 changes to the spartan. I'm changing the add ons onto the helmet and I'm changing the left shoulder to the grenadier shoulder. Everything else remains the same for now lol. Also, I ran out of EVA foam and resin, but my birthday is this Sunday and I'm hoping I get enough money to pay for 2 orders of eva foam, a canister of resin, and a coupe of spray paints so I can paint my helmet, finally, anyway... PICTURE TIME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hey everyone, last night I posted a butt load of pics on my build, and I forgot to post the most important ones, the helmet! When I vacuum formed the visor, near the top it started to ripple and look like a piece of bacon, so I thought outside of the xbox ( crappy pun) and I decided to make the second attachment on the helmet to cover it up, and it turned out well. anyway... here they are.

Nicely done with the pep work and all the eva foam work! How long did it take you to complete the chest?
Eh idk, maybe about 2 weeks, and maybe 3 all nighters the part that sucked was cutting out the paper and yracing it, you need the computer with you at all times bc you need to know which piece you need to cut on an incline for edges.
