Halo Ring

Ok I am making a movie and in the last scen, the halo blows and MC exscapes. well I was thinking about
making the halo from pepakura and paint and res all that jazz.. then blue screen it to a space backround with MC flying away... Then place a very small fire cracker in each end, and have it blow up... but how would I make the Halo?

Seriously, what's the point? you are just copying the 'Halo' scene.
Why not make something ORIGINAL?

EDIT: i think making a circle using cardboard would be the best, and most effective.

The story line does not go with the game... he is trapped alone.. on the halo. void of any life except him.. the flood ar trepped in massive tunnels . that mc goes into and destroys everything to get to the core of the ring. once there he finds the bodies of several dead people. not soldiers. but he finds one kid still alive. The kid has descovered something worse then the flood and they get locked in a under ground compound and are sacrificed to some snake like creatures that crawl into there skin and eat them from the inside out. They finaly exscape and they find a ship to exscape.. then the ship starts and they find that the kid has been attacked by the snake things and the kid goes into convulsion falling out of the hatch.. Mc chases the kid and the kid gets attacked by the flood... the flood all get ripped to pieces and burst because the snake inside the kid tries to come out and eat the flood. the snake rips through the kids face and the kid bleeding is carried by mc who takes him to the ship. then the kid finds a tunnel by the ship and falls in. he lands on a power cell that blows up some junk which mc fleas and halo blows up then mc finds the snakes on his ship and that closes the movie.

Yeah but the ending is still not original...
EDIT: Also, why would there be kids on halo? and halo cannot hava a core... i mean it's a ring, Core?!
and i think it wouldnt be nice to add snake thingies into the game because it would not fit into the halo universe

I don't think your question was answered. If you got an idea, then thats more than a lot of people have. But still something original would be good. Like, master cheif ends up teleporting from the forunner homeworld to the other Halos and has to take them out one by one by no other means than. . . .blowing them up. ( how else would you do it? It's already got a hole in it and it's technically a planet. So, WTF? LET'S BLOW THE MOTHER!)
To answer your question, I'd make it out of balsa wood and depending on how far or close the shot is will determine the size of the ring and the details.

Larger+ close up= higher detail close up+ high speed camera= awesome effect if slowed down
smaller+ far away= not so detailed far away+ highspeed= ehh. . . ok​

You could use on of those Styrofoam rings and carve it to look like the halo then paint details and such.

so basically you twisted the ending of halo and added snakes on a plane yay you get -5 for creativity points!

Every idea for a film has already been done a million times. Halo it's self is a rip off of old sci-fi movies, comic books, and T.V. John 117? The covenant? The great flood? The Ark? Comes right out of a best selling book if you ask me. Let him have his fun, none of use got onto the little kid that redid "starry night"

Universal soldier pushed it for millitary cyborgs, the John 117, Ark and the Covenant are all related to the bible, and The Hulk, Capitain Planet, some others are all green, so it's a fitting color for super heros. I'm not trying to put you down, Im just saying, it's good to let him and anyone for that fact have their own ideas even if they are from other places. It theripudic in a way to do something self fulfilling to get away from the mundain routine everyday. Everyone let's ease up on the criticisims, just a little As my motto goes: " everyone is just trying to have a good day."

In my opinion (assuming your scaling it down) You could get a nice 6x4, and a beltsander, and just start sanding it, and eventually cut a hole in the middle with a scroll saw.

Halo is not really ripped off from other movies, i think it's completely unique.
But it does follow stuff from the BIBLE, ALOT!
Many movies and games etc. made are somehow related to the bible.
The Matrix is a perfect example, it follows the bible in huge amount of detail.

Almost everything follows the Bible.. The war in Iraq .. The bible says that Isreals surrounding countries will attack Isreal and will not rest until the end days.

If your still looking for input about making a ring, I'd make one cheap and easy out of those disks of foam from a craft store. Then just dremel out the inside, mabey add some paper mache, and paint.

Don't make one, animate it.

This pic was set up in under 2 mins, and took about 2 seconds to render It has only basic lighting, no shadows or volumetric lights, no GI or anything fancy, just a blue ball a ring and a light, with a flare post effect on it, and a star field in the background. doing simple space stuff is really easy and is a great way to teach yourself 3d, it requires no modelling skill and only uses preset shapes. Imagine what it could look like if you spent a few weeks on it?
(ps, no I wont animate the scene for you sorry)
