People this is what happens when you shoot a fiberglassed and bondoed helm with a paintball, please take cautions and DO NOT TRY TO DO THIS. Prop armor is for props not paint ball so for the love of god leave your armor at home

Good job explaining what happens when you try this. Maybe that'll put the people who want to make armor for paintball's thought to a halt.

thanks for the complements guys i got sick of people saying that this stuff can survive paint balling so i went and tested it proves that every one who said it wasn't a good idea was right. not only did it dent the helmet it popped the bondo clean off and one instance shot a hole clear thru a test i did the other day

Who would be crazy enough to put all that work into their armour and then subject it to paintball in the first place? (Obviously a fair few people if this video was needed)

Well, I think that should resolve things for some people. Unless you are from nightmare studios, or you are one of those crazy guys who built steel armor, don't play paintball in it. Just out of curiousity, what did your marker clock in at.

Second, would you mind posting a vid looking at the effects of airsoft (both spring and c02) on armor.

Thanks and Cheers!

yes but theres still a question out there still can u guess

airsoft thats what most people are trying to making armor for this exact perpus

you should test airsoft even tho its a garentee ital work.

if made rite that is

good job tho :D

THANK YOU for doing this!!!!! :D I hate seeing thread after thread about making paintball armor, it will ruin your costume, everyone at the paintball field will laugh at you, its downright impractical, and you will probably die of heat stroke :) lol

I think what he meant to say was:

Most people are trying to make armor for airsoft purposes. Even though it's guaranteed to work, you should test it (if made right that is)

Please try to use proper spelling :)

since all the arenas around here are closed the last time i clocked it was 2 years ago but it was around 240 or so and i wish i could but i don't have an airsoft gun and i cant afford one. if i ever get one I'll try it

thats why i made this cause i to was sick of people asking about making armor for paintball

If your gun did that at 220 fps my airsoft guns will go through it. After i had them modified they crono'd at +400 fps. I don't have the guts to shot my armor. I shot one of the rubber tips from my 203 attachment at a porta-potty door from about 5 ft away and it put a golf ball sized hole in the door. Thanks for putting up this video.

If, after this little vid, someone is still thinking that prop armor is airsoftable/paintballable... than you qualify as a full fledged f**ktard.

Great video, really illustrates a very important point!

You have to remember, airsoft FPS and paintball FPS are entirely different things. Paintballs weigh a little over 3 grams each, while Airsoft BBs weigh a LOT less (and come in different weights, usually 0.2 or 0.25 grams). As an example, say you have a golf ball and a bowling ball both traveling at the same speed. When they hit something, the golf ball won't do nearly the same amount of damage as a bowling ball, since the bowling ball's a lot bigger and heavier. SO, an Airsoft BB traveling twice as fast probably won't do nearly as much damage. Then again, it could punch a tiny hole right through it instead (probably not, assuming the piece is properly fiberglassed). Might still do some bondo damage though. Who wants to go shoot up some more helmets to test? (When nobody's wearing them, of course)

EDIT: I'm totally NOT saying homemade helmets are safe for Airsoft. More testing needs to be done before any claims can be made. But now we know that paintball is a big "NO FREAKING WAY".

THANK YOU!!!! Only ASTM certified paintball goggles should be used for paintball. That's just the long and the short of it. Otherwise, you risk serious injury to yourself and anyone else that you let wear your helmet.

There was an airsoft test a while back, for the life of me I can't find it right now but the results were similar but on a smaller scale, however these visors are not regulated for airsoft impact, they can and will shatter in your eyes.

Here's the official 405th Statement regarding airsoft/paintball use of armor you create here:

http://405th.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=13875&st=0&p=213569&#entry213569

Consider it a golden rule to not even start a topic about the subject, because it WILL be closed.

Thanks for putting this to the test again Dark Fang. However, I'd like to add if you ARE interested in paintball/airsoft Halo armor please see this video by G4 feat. Nightmare Armor Studios (with a small guest appearance by our own Adam Grumbo). So it does exist, just not here.

Cheers,

Kensai

it's not that I don't doubt you, but have you tried molded armor?
